WoW gold buying..?

I've purchased WoW gold before, but only in small quantities at one time(1k here, 1k there) done via the AH. I've never had a problem. However I need about 10k and I'm not sure if that's a safe amount to buy at one time and if I should get a direct trade or through the AH(The AH always bothers me, it seems much more trackable then direct trading would be.)
Can anyone provide some input?

Recently, I ordered 20k from a gold seller I always buy from, got it traded to me all at once in Ratchet... two days later, 3 day ban for exploitation of the economy. -_-

So trade in small amounts. Good idea. And spaced out over time, if you can too.

I'd say, not positive, have him trade in 5k incremements to a level one alt. Then, mail the gold to your main and delete the alts.

10k actually is a small amount. we trade many 10Ks everyday. i don't think you should worry about it.

I wouldn't really worry about it too much, if anything I would suggest a major city (or a raid instance...but almost all sites sell gold via level one alts) to make the location less suspicious. Bans can happen periodically for things such as this...although I've personally see the auction house method as a much more likely way to get banned as prices well outside the normal deviation probably raise some red flags.
