Why are non trade guardian scam disputes not being investigated?

As per title. Long time user, for example - scam report in the following thread and no action taken. I understand the push for monetization for TG, but doesn't this harm the reputation of the site?
I also enjoyed looking at scammer being banned / scam disuptues.

It doesn’t have to do with monetization as we have a free option of trade guardian that can be used and would also be investigated.

We stopped investigating off-site scams as things like discord make it nearly impossible to verify who you are talking to.

This is an old example of the issue:

From new updates that has been changed now discord doesn't allows it anymore ( no one can have same name anymore) + that # has been removed and those numberings as well ( for most users )

The update has indeed made it better but there are still issues.

- Usernames can be changed freely, they are not permanent like how they were on skype and older platforms.
- Users can delete messages of any age and they completely disappear from the other party's view.
- Messages can be fabricated rather easily, without even having to use photoshop or doing any kind of image manipulation.

If a member never posted their discord username in any of their posts or PMs (eg. they were the ones adding the other party), we have no way to know that a username belongs to them. They can just say it's not me and everything stops there.

And finally, we are strongly against people using discord and not offering support for those scams is way to incentivize members to not go off-site. There is a free version of TG, but even that is not a requirement. As long as communication took place on-site, even with regular PMs, you will receive support. That way there is no doubt of identity or legitimacy of messages.

You can chose to ignore the warning that appears on every single page on the site, telling you not to use Discord, but then you also waive your right to receive support if things go wrong.

Those are not the same names. Even under the new naming system the above can still happen.

This discord: BoomBoosting and this discord: BооmBооsting is still two different discord IDs and discord still would allow this.

Can you spot the difference in usernames? They look the exact same but they are not the same.

That's no longer possible. Usernames are limited to basic latin letters and numbers, along with dots and hyphens. Display names still have no restrictions.

But still, that change alone is not enough as other issues remain.

Ah, I didn’t realize they changed that aspect of it. I’m still banned on discord.

Can close thread - I understand now. Did not see there was an option for free trade guardian (i.e. trade is done on EPICNPC Chat).

Agree with Discord being unreliable and should not be promoted transaction method.
