I would say the best would be FEAR but its not particularly recent. FEAR's combat is probably my favorite in any FPS.

CrossFire is much love. I've tried many other shooters, but the controls feel really wonky for me. Although it's not for everyone. A lot of scantily clad female characters and a skin collecting simulator at times. Thankfully it's not P2W as it still requires skill. The North America version has been slowly declining over the years and it's unfortunate that the publisher(Z8Games) has total negligence to the game. I'm crossing my fingers that one day, the top version(CrossFire China) will open up its doors to an international audience, or it's handed off to a better publisher that knows how to maintain a healthier playerbase.

Have anyone try Hero & Generals, the funiest game im ever play, you can even get a team of 20 man full of your friend and defend a city with only 1 arm and a wrench, and the only game you can see some one riding on a bicycle chasing a tank

maybe it would be quite obvious answer but i reckon CS:GO still holding ground tight. Cause you can have fun there with friends and play cocmetetively as well. But ofc better to do it on faceit. And if you got banned you can try buying steam acc with required csgo hours for faceit.
On top of that it's very soon when CS 2 will be up. can't wait

It really depends on what genre within "Shooting" games you wanna take into account. For me personally Division as a loot shooter has been a blast in general. Military Shooter as Arma 3 is has been my favorite for a decade now.
