If someone needs to upgrade there motherboard and cpu just buy a new pc.

To be frank the most expensive parts in most pc's are motherboard and cpu and graph card.

Better buy new rig. This rig is sooo old. For ~1000$ you can make very good gaming rig, which can run all new games from medium to ultra graphic. If you don't use it for gaming - this rig is good for browsing, coding etc. And better use some light linux distribution - your PC will get faster (!Ubuntu isn't "light" anymore). Tell us for what you are gonna to use the computer.

That seems like an old cpu
Start with a new mobo and cpu and slowly upgrade more.

What you can also do is sell your old parts and get a totally new build.

You should update almost everything! I would just invest in building a new system, you'd be surprised at the improve in performance you get with just $700 or less.

It depends if you're trying to build a gaming computer or a general use computer. If you're building a decent gaming pc then you will need at least an i5, a mobo that will support an i5, and a bit better graphics card maybe a gtx 550 ti if you want something cheap but reliable. If you're building a general use computer then your graphics card shouldn't be a problem, but i would still recommend buying a new mobo and cpu.

Honestly everything since that computer is getting along in years, and I would be worried of it taking out components from a bad psu blowing since you didn't mention it or motherboard with bad caps.

The most plausible answer would be - yeah everything, just upgrading MoBo and CPU will result that you will also need to upgrade later RAM etc. and will be more expensive later on than just buying a new one right away.

To buy good cpu, u must buy mb, to buy mb u must buy new ddr3. Your upgrade is useless with that videocard. So upgrade almost everything or nothing.

Dude i can get you i5 4th gen in $140, Gigabyte Mobo in like $80-100
8GB Vengeance Pro 2400 Mhz in $120
HD 7970 384bit 3gb for $190
you can buy rest like ssd led etc yourself
xD

HP z22i IPS Display in mint condition for $80 :)

Depends on what you want to do/play on your computer, but I would upgrade the CPU, GPU and perhaps the ram as those are the most lacking parts imo currently.

I'm guessing you already have bought a new pc but... before anyone can suggest anything at all, what's the reason you want to upgrade it? Gaming? Graphics (photoshop, after effects and so on)? Simulators? Mining? Or just internet browsing? (you really wouldn't need an upgrade for the latter).
