We are taking a step back from ID verification and lowering the requirements so new members can post without providing ID. However the new requirement will still require a selfie photo.

Below are new membership tiers:

Registered Members
- can chat and use Trade Guardian

Selfie Verified Members
- can chat and use Trade Guardian
- can post and create threads
- can exchange feedback

ID + Phone Verified Members
- all previous permissions
- required for Verified checkmark on profile and for Trusted badge


For the time being, we are keeping phone verification with ID verification. However depending on abuse, phone verification might be moved to the second tier with selfie verification.

This is a good step forward. Requiring a selfie instead of a full ID verification makes the process easier for new members while still maintaining a reasonable level of security. However, I hope EpicNPC will also consider the privacy concerns of members who are uncomfortable sharing personal photos. does that mean for new members to add a feedback they would be required to verify their account with a selfie instead of just phone verification like it used to? or can they still just verify with a phone number to add a feedback ?

Phone number no longer provide any additional permissions, so a selfie would be required to give feedback to someone else.

This is highly problematic, as new members are often reluctant to provide personal information.
If I were a buyer, I would never provide my personal information.
I would only be compelled to provide it if I were a seller.

I have many clients who haven’t verified anything, yet they still use the TG Middleman
I haven’t received any feedback after sold out 15-20 orders - Buyer not want Selfie Verified ( Phone Verify like before is ok ) .

This rule effectively limits the ability to leave feedback almost exclusively to sellers on EpicNPC.
This is unreasonable; a marketplace should be based on feedback between buyers and sellers, not between sellers and other sellers.

Feedback must have a limitation, without any it would result in mass fake feedback. I'm not sure why verifying a phone number is less intrusive than taking a selfie photo.

Phone numbers have become essentially completely useless in terms of stopping scammers or repeat banned members from using the site. This is why we have diminished the role of phone verification on the site. Going forward it will only be used in conjunction with ID verification and account recovery processes.

If you use TG and don't get feedback, your TG Order stat will still increase, so there is some benefit gained even though you did not receive feedback.

i think we should reconsider leaving phone number verifications just for adding a feedback. because a selfie will probably prevent 99% of new buyers from adding one

To be honest, the new rules is extremely beneficial for me, 99% of new sellers won't be able to build up any feedback. This makes my job easier.

you definitely will see less , 95% probably wont have there ID verified or selfie just to drop a feedback
just looking at it from a random buyer POV

Its only been a few days (4), but there is no noticeable negative affect. In fact the feedback rate increased.

Increase of 2.2% in feedback from the previous 4 days.

Obviously we need to track this longer than 4 days, but so far this does not appear to have any negative affect.

are you tracking 2.2% from sellers side? because from my end it did affected it

I’ve received only 1 feedback for 30 orders (excluding TG middleman) . I’m not sure how it is for other sellers.
Previously, I used to get about 10–15 feedback for 30 orders.
My client refused to complete the selfie verification required to provide feedback.
