VBulletin Migration Test - March 18th

[EpicNPC]

We are going to be doing a test run on Wed Match 18th for the VBbulletin(v4) migration. If all goes well, the actual migration will either be the same day or within a few days.

Since these forums are so large a custom script had to be created for the migration to VB which was created for MD. Marcus was kind enough to allow us to use this tool as well for our move. However there is no reputation component to it currently. Since everyone obviously wants to keep there reputations, this is what the test will be about.

The reputations will be imported into VB's built in reputation system and if things go smooth then we will do a live migration. If not then we will need to do further work to get the reputations moved over.

During the test the forums will remain open. If the test is successful, then we will close them to migrate them over.

We are trying a few more things out tonight to get the forums loading better. If that doesn't work I'm going to upgrade to a more powerful server.

Thanks mike , hopefully you can sort it out its only a little annoying atm as all you really need to do is reboot the browser.

Its really encouraging to see actual changes taking place in the community. We certainly needed a facelift

Just wondering, what type of rep system will we be using?

I have extensive knowledge in vB and would recommend going with a mod called 'iTrader'. It's much better than a normal +reputation system (I'd suggest including that as well, to be used informally, as rep threads are used).

iTrader is quite similar to the rating system we have at the moment.
