Unusual way to ensure safety - feedback please

I was looking through the WoW accounts and I would like to buy an account. I was thinking a S3 rogue of the opposite faction of my main character that I could but on the same PvP server. Maybe a S6 healer or caster DPS of the same side of my main would be sick for impressing my guild which is just starting hyjal (transfer must be up from a US PvP server). But this thread isn’t to solicit offers…

Since a really god character could run between $500 and $1000+, I want absolute safety. I’m not sure what all this business about “high rep” and “Trust Who” is all about. After all, someone could still be a scammer and had their accomplice pretend that they bought and sold several accounts from the person fairly.

The simplest process to ensure fairness would be this (and I am a law student):

1) Have the person log onto their character and meet with a level 1 alt of mine on his server to show gear, etc.

2) I send the person a blank contract by email (“I agree to sell _______ to ________ for ______ amount of money, delivery to occur within 3 days, this is my address, blah, blah, blah). I would send a photocopy of my driver’s licence and they would be expected to do the same (or have their mom be the one to sign off on it if they are young).

3) Print it off. Sign it. Send it by snail mail.

4) I send them a money order by snail mail (they don’t need to question my honesty because they are getting their money up front).

5) They send me all account information including secret question/answer, and they confirm the change of email and phone number.

When I have their personal information and a legal contract, I can subject the person to criminal charges and a lawsuit if they rip me off.

Is there any way the person could rip me off anyway, even with these safety measures? Would people be willing to sell a T6/S3 character under these conditions, or would they still demand PayPal and a markeedraon account with high rep and all that.

(It’s silly to demand buyers have high rep when many legit buyers register about the same day that they buy the account, then leave this website and never return). We aren’t account dealers!

The contract is to provide me with you account name, password SQA, etc.

I see nothing not legally binding about that. You couldn;t enforce the contract against blizzard but you could enforce it against the seller IMO.

They could supply the information.

But wheres the proof that it was correct or that they recalled the account? They could just deny it. And I doubt Blizzard would be much help in this and would just ban the accounts anwyas, considering it's not legal to sell.

I get your point kind of, but if they supply the information and confirm the change of email, they couldn't recall the account easily.

If they suppy the username and password but not the SQA or change the email to mine, they'd be breaching the contract.
