Banned - scammer - selling fake keys - http://vbforums.mmobay.net/scammers/390820-residentsmeagle-failure-supply-valid-cd-key.html#post2216459
Dear MMOBay,

Tell me if im over-stepping the line here, yet i have a wierd hobbie for reading scammer threads, don't know why they just appeal to me. Upon reading many of the recent scammer threads, i see you close the account, with valid proof ofcourse, quite swiftly. Yet i have a slight issue with this, im not disagreeing witht the fact that they should be banned. However i do believe a little bit more time should be give for the victim to get the accused to return the stolen property, as it happened on markeedragon. I personally do not prioritise banning over the returning off my stolen property. Maybe if the moderators upon seeing the valid evidence setting a period of over 1 week where perhaps the victim can attempt to recover the stolen goods/property. Maybe im being to realistic, but hey just a suggestion, you can discard it you like, i won't take offence.

Anyway keep up the good scam busting work.

I'm just like you and spend a lot of time reading scam threads myself.

But I don't see why a scammer would return the property just because they were found to be at fault by mmobay.net.

Also if you think someone is going to banned make sure to get their IM info before it happens. Most likely that's not going to do much.

A lot, in fact most or the scammers we ban, are users that have a history of scamming. There's really no reason to give them a chance to return the money or accounts because they don't care and will just create another account and continue to scam. There are times someone who was reported is a legit seller/trading and just happens to have traded/sold a bad account. In cases like this we give a little more leeway and do not ban if they resolve the issue with the user that reported it.

Scammers Should Be Banned instantly. Period. If you dont like that you are most likely a Scammer yourself. Once a thief always a thief.

LOL.. less than 30 days... on the forums and he is walking around with what i think "may" be a huge ban hammer in his pants...

yeah i agree no need to ban within seconds of a dispute.. there are always 2 sides and somethings just go bad.. but. i think we need to start IP banning.. they just make new accnts over and over and over.. and then we have some.. that have gotten banned cause they couldn't return the accnt or $ soon enough adn got banned.. andt hey came back and were legit. and they've gotten rebanned.. i think there should be ways to fix OLD wrong things that were done.. if a member has been here over a year.. like.. trevorsmd or aka darkthought... i've delt with him several times.. GREAT guy.. had a bad trade or whatever.. that his brother kinda messed up for him and he got banned.. so i think thre is a fine line between banning legit people with bad luck. and letting scammers fly.. or remake accnts ...

its a very hard job for mods.. i applaud your efforts and work... keep it up guys..

As many of you know. IP banning is inefficient because A) some ISPs and colleges run under community IPs. AKA we'd be banning several people we DON'T want to ban. B) Proxies/IP Refreshes will just as easily go under the radar.
