Avatar weapons are unique weapons you can obtain by collecting drops in Tera. The shards will start dropping when your character is in the correct level range for the weapon in question. There used to be a quest involving learning how to forge and upgrade the avatar weapons from the shard drops, but these days you can create your first avatar weapon within minutes of clearing the tutorial area.
The only real requirement now is that you are at least level ten. I think it might actually be impossible to clear the tutorial area without getting to level ten, so that isn’t your biggest concern. Your first weapon, the Seren weapon, will be the easiest to get.
In the case of the Seren weapon, you need to collect five shards. They’ll drop when you kill monsters. While shards drop most commonly in dungeons or after fights with a BAM, you don’t necessarily need to run dungeons to get them. Once one drops, it’ll glow.
Once you’ve collected all the shards, it’s time to make your weapon. Go into your inventory, and hit the button. Your new weapon will automatically equip itself. It’s that simple if you want to settle for mediocrity.
To excel you’re going to need to enchant this weapon. Get to the enchanting screen. On PS4 you do this by selecting the weapon and pressing square to summon the drop-down menu. To enchant your weapon, you’re going to need feedstock and alkahest. Both can drop from monsters, and alkahest can be bought from some stores. Weapons come in tiers, and certain tiers require certain Alkahest. A tier 3 weapon needs tier 3 alkahest. You need to select how much feedstock you want to use in your attempt. More feedstock means better odds.
Once you’ve got your feedstock and Alkahest selected, simply push the button and let the magic happen. Your weapon should be a +1 now. Keep going until your weapon is +9. After enchanting to max, your weapon may unequip itself. I’m not sure why it does that, but make sure to equip your weapon before doing anything else.
