So this will really be aimed towards Steam Account sellers, but can be extended to almost any service that requires you to show that you have a certain item on your computer that you are selling.
Teamviewer (http://teamviewer.com/index.aspx) is a Remote-Access Application, meaning it can be used to access your computer at home, or have Tech Support view the error message you're experience, but it can also be a useful tool to verify what you are selling is under your control, and prevent the risk of losing accounts under the 'can I log in to see that it's really here?" scams.
Now lets talk about this program and how to use it safely.
1. NEVER EVER Use a Remote-Support connection unless you trust the person 100%, because they will have access to your computer and files, including opening folders and running applications. What you can see and do, is what they can see and do.
NOW, How do we go around this safely? Teamviewer has four great settings. Remote Support, Presentation, File Transfer and VPN.
The setting we will be using is Presentation, and requires the viewer no installation of the TeamViewer program. All they need is a Browser equipped with Flash.
How to do this.
1) Open Teamviewer and select Presentation mode
2) Copy the link labeled Login For Partners, (https://wa103.teamviewer.com/p/)
3. Provide the ID and Passwords located on the left hand side of the TeamViewer box, and instruct them to enter these into the applicable spaces on the webpage provided.
4. Once they connect, you will be notified of the connection, and from there forth, you can open up the item you wish to show off, be it a game character ingame or your Steam Games List.
Safety Rule: I always log into and alt tab out of whatever I'm going to show off instead of logging into the account while the viewer is watching. Just safe practices.
