Hi guys,

I bought an account SWTOR account. Only thing changed on the account was Email / Password and country. Country was set to russia I had to change it to USA because it would'nt let me change the email or access if I did not and because of USA Ip about a day later account was banned. I contacted the seller and explained to him. We tried to get the account banned but they are saying it's permanent. I asked the seller that hey lets just do half half since I am not entirely at fault either. So just pay me back 37.50$ of the 75$. But he is not happy with this and does not want to give anything back.

Can I take action against him and get my money back by disputing on paypal or what should I do in this scenario.

Thanks

Is this something that's common with SWTOR accounts? Meaning if your a NA player and buy a EU account or vise versa is the rate of account bans high?

Obviously you knew you were buying a Russian account, but did he know you were in the US?

Yes he did know I was US

This is a difficult situation. If this was an account reseller, I would say a 50-50 split would be fair because he should have warned you. Something like "since your NA and this account is Russian, I'm not responsible if the account gets banned due to IP change".

However if this is just a player selling an account, he might not know the risk. In that case you as the buyer should have made sure what you're buying is safe. In this case I would sat you should only get a 10% refund.

But Mike, I sold SWTOR Eu and Us in the past never had a single problem with any of them. I sold over 30 some accounts before. It was just this one time that account was banned for "Account selling" that's what the email said pretty much. So why should I be held 90% liable for that? Just curious

Hello

this thing happened to me about 1 year ago.

bought an account from a turkish guy. and after a few hours prohibited.

My first and only ban. sales account.

I asked the guy why this happened because I had never happened.

I owned more than 100 accounts swtor and I always logged with different ip but never had problems with ban

however guy finally said that his account had already been banned previously.

so I think if you were already banned for things. as sales and more.
then very sure that your account be under control.

because otherwise it is very rare or almost impossible this thing.
at least in my experience.

then according to me the account that you bought already had problems before.

but it's just my thought.

thanks.

Vohaz.

I sold tons and tons of accounts never been banned this was the first.

From what you guys are posting it seems that it's not common for an swtor account to be banned due to IP or region change, making this just bad luck. In that case I would follow the same rule as with gold selling, where we do not hold the seller accountable in the case of bad luck and the gold being removed.

If this account was previously banned, suspended or warned like in the example Vohaz gave, then the seller would be 100% responsible to refund since the account was very high risk and the seller didn't tell the buyer.

You can open a dispute if you like, but you would need to show that there are previous tickets on the account or something recorded showing it was previously warned or suspended.

Have you tried contacting Bioware to get more information on the ban?

I have not and the seller does not respond to me either. I did lose the paypal case but I am disputing through my bank now. I have not heard from the seller at all. I'll figure it out.

when it happened to me then the seller told me that it had already been banned.

maybe you can recover it. I have recovered account together with the original owner (seller)
we asked for help to sephirolf and account has been restored.
but you need to scan id.

I had more than 100 swtor acc. and I never worried about the ip changes. never happened for a ban ip. never happened. only in this case but that there explanation.

then there's something wrong in that account.

sorry for late reply.
