So yeah i just sold a couple of thousand gold via ingame trade, how specific are blizzard on tracking this? i was thinking because it was only a small amount the would not notice? and if you get caught its a perm ban right? the person i sent it to said in whisper "sent money" what are the chances they will catch onto this?

I've gotten away with it twice and I'm always worried every time. I just traded 8.5k for a gc and I'm gonna wait a few days to use it.
But only time will tell... its getting worst cus of gold getting cheaper and easier to get you have to sell more and more of it to be worth it
