Selling an Xbox Gamertag (Question)

Hey all,

so I basically bought a game account (microsoft account) and noticed the xbox account has a 3 letter gamertag. The bought game account alone is worth around $400 so it's not an option to sell the whole microsoft account for the gamertag only.

Is there a way to either:

- change the gamertag to an alt account safely with no risk of getting sniped so I can sell the whole Microsoft Account with said GT through Trade Guardian?

- sell the gamertag directly? Problem: If I sell it and the buyer claims "I have't received the gamertag, its not available, give me my money back or I'm gonna report you because you scammed me and took the GT back instantly" - I have a problem thats not easily solved because theres no proof on either site.

The first option is better and what I suggest people to do when MMing.

Make a new account and change the username there, then it basically becomes a regular account sale. The buyer can later to the transferring of the name himself.

As for doing it safely, I'm not sure. But I seriously doubt that anyone can snipe it faster than you're changing it.

Sniping manually is not what I'm afraid of - I'm thinking more of scripts that 24/7 check the availability of an username. I don't know if thats a thing with xbox tags, but better to be safe than sorry.

I doubt that they could do it that fast. Unless there is absolutely no rate limiting, they shouldn't be able to check more than a few per second.

I tried instantly claiming a name with 2 alt accounts a few mins ago. It does not work - at least not instantly. Created 2 microsoft accs, gave the first one a random name and changed that name to another gamertag. Then tried to instantly claim the now free name with the second acc -> name only available with the #****

The name change was around 25 minutes ago. Will continue testing and to let potential readers know the outcome. But as it looks now, it doesn't work that easily.

Edit: It is available now. So around 30-45 minutes it seems.

This used to be a thing on xbox. Mostly prior to the new username change.

I highly doubt anyone would have scripts randomly running for a three letter GT. If they did try and snipe a GT it would be one of the more popular words.

Quick question since thats the only way for me being safe and not risking my epicnpc account in the selling process and in general provide a fair and safe trade for a buyer:

Would it be possible for a Middleman to do the following:

Step 1: Middleman changes all the information (email/pw/recovery mail) of my microsoft account with the 3 letter on it.
Step 2: If the acc is secured, buyer pays me directly
Step 3: After some time - maybe some hours, maybe a day or 2, the middleman will change the username for the buyer and gives the signal that its now changed and free to claim (after a certain period). The buyer can now claim the username on his own account (without informing me ofc)
Step 4: Middleman gives the now changed microsoft account back to me

This process should be fine for me, the middleman & the buyer since after buying the full microsoft account, he still needs to get the name on his main xbox account.
