I wasn't sure where to put this, but I thought it best to warn other people off buying from, selling to, or trading with this scammer.

[email protected] is his email and msn, and I was just scammed out of my 70 rogue while attempting to trade with him. We swapped emails on the accounts, then SQ/A: however, he provided me with an incorrect SQ&A, and proceeded to block me. He is now in full control of my account, mainly due to my naiveity, and I would like to warn people from doing any form of transaction with this guy.

The problem is, I have no leg to stand on. He didn't contact me on this forum (therefore admins have no proof of his contact to me), and the only proof I have are msn chat logs (which many deem to be too easy to falsify). I can however, take screenshots of the msn window if necessary.

If anyone offers you a character, namely Emppee or Earthshocker (or anything related to these), I advise you to stop all contact with this thief immediately.

Thank you.

if ure not the original owner of the account ure screwed if u are email blizz, and again ill say why the hell would u change ure email to a strangers that u dont know lol, hope u learn from the mistake /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I am, indeed, the original owner of the account and plan on phoning Blizzard first thing tomorrow morning (their hotlines aren't available over the weekend), and find out what the possibilities are.

I, in my inexperience of trading, followed the way he suggested we go about transacting; that is, first change emails on both accounts (this part went through smoothly), then give SQ+A, then passwords. After changing the email on his account to mine, and vice versa, we swapped SQ+A. I then discovered he had provided me the wrong information, but had already blocked me.

I have since been in contact with him, via friends and other msn accounts, but he is very dismissive and has told me openly his plans; to transfer my character to another account, and sell it. He also had the nerve to offer me the chance to buy back my own character for $50, which I refused.

I have tried to track down his IP, and I have tracked down an IP, but he continues to tell me that he is using a proxy; making this IP, most probably, incorrect.

I now realise my ignorance as to what he was doing, and I know I should've been more aware to it. I have also realised that the email sent by Blizzard to comfirm the change of emails on the account, was addressed to Andy, and I am under the firm impression that the scam artist is named Doug. This leads me to believe that the account he offered me was stolen in the first place; however I hadn't noticed this minor detail earlier on, whilst carrying out the trade.

I made a mistake, and I hope others, having read this, won't do the same.

i hope u get it back mate I personally wud not follow others guidelines, if somoene had no rep then make them do the work ie account name and pass first if they dont like it then find another trader /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

sorry for your loss

Xtrader, thanks for the reply.

The IP I was able to obtain was traced to Australia - infact, I had an image on google maps of the exact location this IP was coming from. It was just off of Hart St, Sydney.

Another thing to add is that I, along with the help of my friends, were able to get him to join our ventrilo server. He definately sounded Australian when he spoke, but he thought the whole thing a joke; when asked why he'd stolen my account, he simply laughed and quit ventrilo.

His ISP is supposedly Telstra Internet. However, seeing as he has stated a number of times he is using a proxy, I am unsure of the accuracy of this information.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Good news: I've managed to get my account back.

Long story, but I managed to gain access back and also discovered that this guy is a big time scammer.

Thanks for the help and advice.

Not to rehash an old thread, but i too have been scammed by this guy.

I ended up being able to get some of his dox thanks to partly battle net and his new email account showing more details.

His new email was [email protected] if you ever want spam hate mail to this guy....

Anyway we gotta get rid of people like this people and the trolls, they are the plague of this vast and awesome realm which is our world of warcraft.....

Anyway cheers mates

I am really glad you got your stuff back. Personally i feel that scammers need to have their innards removed for doing such a heartless act. Along with vandalism and others. But still I am happy you were able to get ur account back.

Its always nice to hear that things are back to normal.
