My thread https://www.epicnpc.com/threads/loo...-ganyu-mona-got-scammed.1927636/#post-7584420
Context:
Was my first buying thread. Wanted an account for genshin impact. Was approached by someone named taeC#3315 in discord. All screenshots of the deal are attached. But yeah, the flow was basically
* Guy approached me on discord
* Used nevssy's previous account image for his sale on this thread https://www.epicnpc.com/threads/ganyu-mona.1838663/#post-7346748. I didn't do proper due diligence here
* Then a bunch of back and forth making paypal payments. Once to [email protected], which I had to reroute to [email protected]. Guy claimed to be creating the paypal account because he uses cashapp and venmo.
* Then the guy was taking forever to give me the account details, then poked around the site and saw he used the same image as a previous thread. Asked him about it and he claimed to be the owner of the account (so that's MarsFes and I don't think it's him/her)
* He didn't block me, and I'm still waiting on the account details lol
I should be able to retrieve the losses via chargeback, but that'd take a while. In hindsight, I guess I was a dumb buyer and should've done more due diligence on my side. That being said, there should be more tools for the buyer to identifier a potential scam offender list or something like that. As a new user, there's a lot of buy and sell threads that allow you to connect via discord which makes it feel normal to take the deal there. And yes, I say that reading the "we don't use discord" banner up top.
The way I feel about everything is something like:
* Don't think it's epicNPC's fault at all
* However, I don't trust other users on the site anymore. Not their fault, but that's just how I feel now
* You probably want to only allow people who signed up to view posts on epicnpc
* I could've done some more due diligence somehow, but then it means that I go through all the effort and stress of interrogating everything a seller tells me. That's frustrating on it's own.
* I also have my guardian tales account that I want to sell. But feel like someone will end up scamming me there as well.
The deets of the person:
