I told mcdangles to buyout my ebay auction and we would just do it from there as it was safer. He kept refusing, which I found odd, but he had good reputation on this site, and I decided to just bite the bullet and give it to him. I received the key a day before the transaction in my email, and then he claims it was "already used". It was suspicious because he said "Oh it didn't work let me type it in by hand" yet the site said "Key in use". If the key was in use, why would he bother typing it in by hand? It's not like it said error, code invalid ,but it said used, so he knew he had it right, he was trying to humor me.

In this way, I can verify that your key is legit( the seniority part of the trade), and you can have your money through ebay (your safety). Otherwise, I don't think this trade can happen.

I think the main strategy here was that he found a newbie to the site with not much reputation, and decided to blackball me by claiming the key was already in use when he typed it in. He continued chatting with me to seem legit, but he took it, 100%. He tried to tell me something like "Algorithims can guess these codes before their even mailed" but that's a load of crap. If people could create beta keys, they wouldn't be worth anything and it wouldnt be a closed beta.
This is just going to be a war of words. I'm sure he will deny it, but this person scammed me, and I would not go to the trouble of this post just to get someone in trouble who is innocent. If SOMEHOW Blizzard emails me back and says my key was indeed somehow taken before it was even emailed to me, I'll take this down, but it was a made up story. The scamming is my fault, I trusted somebody I shouldn't have, but please, get this guy IP-banned or something, because he is trying to use some kind of status on the site to remain immune from scamming.

It was suspicious because he said "Oh it didn't work let me type it in by hand" yet the site said "Key in use". If the key was in use, why would he bother typing it in by hand? It's not like it said error, code invalid ,but it said used, so he knew he had it right, he was trying to humor me.

I think the main strategy here was that he found a newbie to the site with not much reputation, and decided to blackball me by claiming the key was already in use when he typed it in. He continued chatting with me to seem legit, but he took it, 100%. He tried to tell me something like "Algorithims can guess these codes before their even mailed" but that's a load of crap. If people could create beta keys, they wouldn't be worth anything and it wouldnt be a closed beta.
This is just going to be a war of words. I'm sure he will deny it, but this person scammed me, and I would not go to the trouble of this post just to get someone in trouble who is innocent. If SOMEHOW Blizzard emails me back and says my key was indeed somehow taken before it was even emailed to me, I'll take this down, but it was a made up story. The scamming is my fault, I trusted somebody I shouldn't have, but please, get this guy IP-banned or something, because he is trying to use some kind of status on the site to remain immune from scamming.
