There is no way to confirm if a seller botted or hand-farmed their currency. Either way, the risk to being banned for participating in the currency market appears to be about the same.
Fresh gil directly from farmer! I'm not a shop, so I don't have gil at every server; however, I can use World Visit feature to make deliveries within the same data center. I earn my gil myself, so yes - it is limited: ask first, then buy if desired amount is available. You don't have to add me to friends in-game to receive gil (there are other ways to deliver), but you have to be online.
EU servers only (Chaos and Light data centers). No, I will not start to farm at US or JP anytime soon.
Generally, my online hours are 10-11am to midnight-2am (GMT). When we both are online, delivery can be as fast as 5 mins or so.
