Re: SELLERS GUIDE TO NOT GET SCAMMED v2.0

Question: So you've done everything correctly so far and you're sending the registered mail. How does paypal know about the registered mail? Like when and what information do you give to paypal about the actual letter you sent cause Id imagine that jst sending a registered mail won't do anything unless Paypl knows you sent it.

Re: SELLERS GUIDE TO NOT GET SCAMMED v2.0

Can you explain, what actually happens if i (the seller) gets scammed. Let's say we did a transaction through paypal, i understand there is a way for the buyer to take back the payment once it's already been sent.

How is this possible and what can i do in defense (assuming that i gave them a legit account with legit information)

Also you mentioned that i send them 3 papers, account info, invoice and a receipt. what is the "receipt"?

Im not sure I understand the first question. There are lots of different scams out there. Typically someone will purchase an account from you then recall their money via paypal. This system will help you fight a dispute with paypal. If you read the guide, your second question will be answered.

A reciept is a notice of payment. When your transaction completes. Send a printout of the transaction details that say the transaction is complete.

Re: SELLERS GUIDE TO NOT GET SCAMMED v2.0

What would you say about changing your WoW Account information before selling?

Edit: Also, you mention that after you send them the package through the mail, you "sit and wait for the phone call".

What phone call are you referring to?

Re: SELLERS GUIDE TO NOT GET SCAMMED v2.0

This is a fascinating guide; I never realized that there were so many avenues for both the buyer and seller to get worked over in a deal.

Living overseas will definitely prevent me from purchasing accounts, however. The price I pay, I suppose.

Thank you for the post!

Re: SELLERS GUIDE TO NOT GET SCAMMED v2.0

Is the Trust Who Verified Trades forum Trades only made by Trust Who members to other Trust Who members. Anyone ever get ripped off there? Are there that many trades in that forum?

Re: SELLERS GUIDE TO NOT GET SCAMMED v2.0

How in fact are you supposed to find the buyer's address through paypal? I sent the invoice but had to cancel it because I couldnt find the buyers physical address to send the account info to. Please help. PM me the answer or respond back please.

Re: SELLERS GUIDE TO NOT GET SCAMMED v2.0

Great guide, thanks a lot. I was going to sell a couple of accounts to accounts.net as i was worried about getting scammed, but I may give it a go here instead /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif I had started the process to sell an account to them on the consignment option (They pay you 50% of the account sale price once the account sells), gave them my account name and password, then they came back to me and said they wanted me to add a 60 day timecard so they can regularly check the account. I refused and asked them to cancel the process. Anyway, I didn't use the account for a couple of days and was on a separate account and I saw my character come online ([censored]? lol) I tried to log onto the account and the password had been changed. So I quickly reset the password on the account management page. When I logged onto the account he was in Auchidon and he had around an extra 200g on him a couple of blue gems, 2 blues and a load of greens. No one else had the details to this account and it happened a couple of days after i cancelled the consignment with accounts.net. I don't know what the hell they were doing with him but it was wierd...i was expecting him to be stripped or something.

Re: SELLERS GUIDE TO NOT GET SCAMMED v2.0

While I totally get that the more posts/rep a person has the more likely they aren't a scammer...what about the people that genuinely want to sell their account and are very new to this like myself. Do I have to wait til I make like at least 100 posts before attempting to sell my account?

Re: SELLERS GUIDE TO NOT GET SCAMMED v2.0

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Seriously, why would a seller need to close off all of the buyer's recourse like this when they can recall the account the moment anything goes wrong?</div></div>

Because sellers actually want to sell the account and get money for it, as opposed to wasting another week getting all your [censored] back and being on page 1 all over.

Invest in Trust Who Verification. its 8 dollars and a few minutes of time. If your a legit seller, you will make every effort to prove it.

I'd take away that TrustWho Signature... You aren't actually Verified. If you are, then link it properly to your e-mail. But for now, it needs to be out. </div></div>

its alright btrail - he was just confused regarding the association process and AIMed me directly. its been taken care of

Re: SELLERS GUIDE TO NOT GET SCAMMED v2.0 - SOLD

This is really nice...but i have a little problem with it, I'm outside the US and I'm not on Canada or Australia either...even when this all sounds nice I find it really hard to put it out in practice.

a)Paypal its almost not use at all in here...moving the money from the Paypal to a bank account or any other thing in order to turn it into "real" money takes weeks.-

b)Phone call, forget it...its way too expensive and generally when i can talk on the phone its either too late or too early where the buyer is.-

c)Mail the account info in piece of paper...won´t work either cause it would actually take 6 to 8 days to arrive (in a good case scenario).-

So far i´ve come with: U log on into the game, we see each other u can see my toons/money/mounts etc,i give u the account name and password, u make a money transaction through Western Union and when i get the money in my hands I give u the account SQ/SA...The problem its that it requires a lot of trust from the buyer, and they can still scam me and steal all the money i have in my account when they log into it...so, yeah I'm having a lot of troubles to sell my wow account. I would appreciate some tips.-

Re: SELLERS GUIDE TO NOT GET SCAMMED v2.0 - SOLD

if you really cannot follow all of the above steps, feel free to try and use western union of a simple bank transfer - both these methods will insure that you cannot have the money taken from you after you have it.

good luck!
