Quick Sidebar Update #3

Not Recently Bumped

More improvements to the sidebar are now available.

1. Each tab now has it's own counter.
  • 'Active Threads' will show threads that have a new reply.
  • 'Recently Visited' will show sections that have a new thread.
2. Sections with new threads will now be listed at the top of the 'Recently Visited' tab, but below your pinned items.

3. If you click the "NEW" icon, it will load that section showing new threads at the top. This way you can see all new threads faster.

4. 'Mark all as read' option was added to the "Recently Visited" tab.

5. If you remove a thread from your sidebar, it will automatically unwatch that thread if it was on your watch list.
If you unwatch a thread, it will automatically be removed from your sidebar.

To add a thread back, you can re-watch it.

There are no further updates planned for the sidebar at this time. If you have more suggestions or find any issues, please post below.

Its not working properly, in active threads I removed threads few times and they still come back, also previous tab was better, when bumping the thread, it was moving to the top, now it stays at the bottom

I have some bumps available, but they are no longer coming back to the top when they are available. Was this intended? (I still would suggest that available bumps be sorted by last time bumped so sellers can have a hope to sort out which threads have higher/ lower priorities to bump).

I have no bumps being displayed as available. The little green circle icon is no longer displaying as it was before. I thought it was that they were being hidden when the forum bump limit was reached like discussed on the last update, but that doesn't seem to be the case yet, since I went through manually and bumped some threads anyway.

I also still don't like the sidebar being jumbled between my threads and community content, if I want to review this or other active threads in the community/ moderator channels. I have like 10 threads of mine locked at the top, more when bumps are available and have to sift through to find stuff I didn't post. But anyway, I guess this is not changing. Always hoping for more innovations/ improvements. Sales have noticeably taken a hit since these site revamps have occurred.

A bug fix for that was released yesterday.

Thread order was not changed in this update.
  • New Replies at the top
  • Your threads with bumps available
  • All other threads based on last reply time

Yes. If you have reached your page 1 limit, even if a bump is available, it will not appear green or at the top.

If you try to bump a thread like this, it will say "You cannot bump due to reaching your page 1 limit". This is why those threads no longer appear. Once you are below your page 1 limit, it will then display.

I'm definitely getting my bumps hidden on the sidebar for some forums when I know I have bumps available on that forum.

Does this check per forum or does it hide all bumps across the website if it meets the check that you have reached the bump limit on just one forum?

In this case all my bumps are hidden, but I only bumped 4 threads on the Asia Genshin Impact forum. I have 3 more I could choose to bump, but they're not shown in the sidebar. I'll keep bumping only 4 so maybe you can investigate

I reviewed all of your threads posted in the last 40 days. All were correct except 1.

There were about 20-25 that had bumps available, but could not be bumped because you already reached the page 1 limit in that section. The rest were recently bumped.

That one thread which had a bump available, but did not appear in your sidebar as bumpable, so there's a bug somewhere. We'll have to investigate the cause and it will be fixed within the next 48 hrs.

We re-reviewed your sidebar and threads more closely today and there does not appear to be a bug related to bumps.

All threads that were bumpable appeared in your sidebar. There were a few threads that has bumps available, but were no longer considered active because there was no activity for 10+ days. 2-3 of these threads were over the limit by only a few hours.

Activity is based on last reply or last bump times. This means these thread had no bumps or replies in 10+ days.

Most likely the 1 thread I found yesterday was over the 10 day limit. However I did a quick check yesterday which is probably why I missed it.

The following scenario is possible. These numbers are made up. I think maybe this is what you noticed.

  • 15 active threads in one section
  • 15 threads appears in your sidebar as bumpable
  • You bump 5 threads and hit the page 1 limit
  • The remaining 10 threads are no longer bumpable and the green circle indicator disappears
    • Those 10 threads will appear lower in your sidebar list.
  • Once you are no longer at the page 1 limit, all those threads will appear bumpable again.

I've gone ahead and replicated the issue just now. I have bumped 5 threads on Genshin NA, 5 threads on Genshin EU, and 3 threads on Genshin Asia.

Here you can see that only 3 of my 5 bumps are used, there are none below as I've verified by scrolling.

Here is one of my 4 threads that are recent or have activity or bumps within 10 days. You can see I can bump this.

And here is my sidebar, this thread along with my other Genshin Asia accounts are not displayed. Hope this helps to identify the bug.

Would it be possible to have threads that are in a deleted status be automatically removed from the sidebar? I know it isn't a common issue but if possible it would be nice to not need to manually remove deleted threads off the sidebar.

I really miss newly posted thread notification here here on website. I understand that it's maybe too much info tor some persons ( like you said it here ) Screenshot_20240628-193422.png but it still very useful for us, for moderators at least ( especially local moderators )...

Ok I understand that it's still available in mail box and everything but it's like 3x more work for me to review everything...

Firs of all, you have to you separate app to review all this newly posted nonfictions...

Secondly, have to open those Mails one by one and review them...
And then, you have to open links separately, one by one which is super super annoying, especially on mobile... (Tbh on pc too)😕

I just realized there is a free spot here in thise section...

Isn't it possible use it for maybe "news" or "updates" or create similar notification section so we will be able to see all this newly posted Thread notifications here on website again?

That open spot in the sidebar will be to integrate chat messages in the future.

I monitor a few sections as well and have about 10 pinned to my sidebar's "Recently Visited" tab and find it extremely easy to check new threads. I keep my sidebar open since I'm on desktop and this adds some extra benefit.

I'm instantly able to see "NEW" thread alerts as they come up. I click the "NEW" icon and it loads that section with all the new threads at the top instead of having to click multiple alerts for each new thread. I can then quickly decide if I want to open any of the new threads or not. I would image as a seller, this works the same way. Seller's don't necessarily have to open every new thread posted by other sellers. A list of new threads would be easier and faster to review. The seller could then decide which threads to open if any.

However if you're on mobile and can't keep the sidebar open, then you're not getting the full benefit of these instant notifications. Currently we show a red alert icon for the sidebar, but this only indicates an active thread has a 'new reply'. When a forum has a new thread, there is no indicator until you open the sidebar.

We can add a secondary indicator for the sidebar to rectify this issue, however there was a reason we didn't add one. If you have a lot of forums on your list, that indicator will likely remain on permanently since members can have up to 35 forums listed. Perhaps limiting the alert to your pinned forums would be a better solution. We'll add this in the near future.
