Question about using Western Union

I'm looking to sell a long time WoW account and I have a current offer from someone who wishes to pay via Western Union. How safe is it to receive payment in this manner? Are there any ways to be scammed by someone paying via Western Union?

WU is fairly straight forward and a lot easier than paypal, security wise. I've never been scammed through WU though I suppose it's possible.

WU payments you pickup at an agent and they hand you cash for it (I've had some, in grocery stores offer to give the money as a money order so you're not walking around with all he cash). So the chances of a fraudulent charge through WU are just about zero, but I wouldn't say impossible.

In the case of WU, I allow them to have the login/pws and nothing else (now, if they're also repped, I'll even agree to an email change at this time). I inform them that once I have the money in my hand, I'll hand over the last name, sq/sa, and email change (if I hadn't already done the latter).

Anyway, I'm getting off topic --- WU is a very secure way to do the transaction. Much more so than paypal.

Thanks for the links, I read through the guides. The individual I'm speaking to wants me to do the e-mail change and give him the user name/pass before he sends the Western Union payment. No land line, and doesn't have a user name on markeedragon. He wants me to hop on vent with him.

My gut tells me I shouldn't sell to him, but I'm inexperienced with the process and am hoping someone who's been doing this awhile can give me some advice. Thanks in advance.

I would suggest against giving him access to the e-mail until you have the money in your hands. This is standard practice for most buyers/sellers who use WU

thanks customz for answering : )

basically, it comes down to this: how do you know that he wont run off with your account before he sends you money / how does he know that you wont run off with his money...

reassure him by giving him your address, landline maybe even copy of ID.
