Hi, not sure if this is allowed but I just want to let people know that name sniping occurs, especially for rarer names.

Be careful because sniper will ALWAYS be able to track the names through the in-game mail system.

1. They can look up the IGN by searching through the mail to see if the ilevel has changed.
2. The mail also tells the snipers if the name is still on the same server.

I even tried to increase the ilevel of one of the names I was selling to throw off snipers (went from T2 to T3) and it was still sniped after 3 days. We took precautionary steps via stream and count down. Buyers and sellers please be wary of the risks involved and DM me if you have questions.

Some additional things to consider if you are buying names: create a new character instead of trying to name change. This is because if you mess up the timing of the name change you have to go through the whole process of clicking on the character and selecting name change. If you create a new character, you can spam click create and enter at the same time.

This unfortunately seems like the end of name trading.

Even if you only reveal your names to older accounts on here, for all we know someone with an old account could be one of the snipers...

It just doesn't seem safe at all at this point, especially for the amount of $$$ some of these names go for.

 

This is a REAL thing. I recommend people not just throwing names out there too on a thread. Instead, too keep name sniping at a minimal, only do it via PM with NON new accounts. I've been sniped and a couple of others I know have been sniped. We all had one thing in common, and that was the name being openly displayed in the selling thread. I don't care how fast anyone thinks they are, we lost the name in less then a fraction of a second.
