People not posting their IM on their threads

I find it pretty annoying when people don't post their own IM screen name, but post on their threads asking for people to post their IM.

Why do they do that? It just seems shady to me.

Mostly because they want to be the one to contact you instead of being spammed by useless offers they dont like.

Being completely honest 1/2 the members I've spoke with who hide their aim ended up having a record of scamming. I guess they try to make it more difficult to dig up?

possible. If that is the case, maybe they hide it, and wait for new members to post, knowing the new member wont know their history. Seems like the path of least resistance for someone who has been banned in the past, or who has questionable transactions.

Ye... Takes longer to contact if I want an account I don't want 10 people interested seeing the armory etc. I've NEVER been spammed with useless offers, and when I have people spam me its two clicks away> Block.

There is absolutely no reason for people to not post their information unless they are hiding something.
