Paypal Question

If i sell an account for $400 dollars via paypal.

After payment is recieved in paypal , transfered to a bank, and withdrawn in cash.

account information then disclosed to buyer

could the buyer at this point , claim goods never recieved, and get money back from paypal?

If so ? would this put a -400.00 negative cash balance on my paypal account

If This happen would I , Owe paypal company 400$ ??

maybe i read the information wrong , its making me leary of using paypal even tho i had sucessfull sale in the past

i might be happier using banktobank , althought i duno how i feel about giving real name and account number to stranger ;p

or western union , althought these methods may make me look like a scammer

is there anyway to show people your trustworthy and still prefer WU or bank wire funds ?

its been slow finding a buyer but i dont want to get rip off either.

I understand also that a lot of people want photo ID ?

is this not a risk for indentity theft, or even account theft ? doesnt blizz require photo id photocopy for sqa question info release ?

So far what i have seen shows that only ways to protect self with paypal is to request payment in form of a GIFT ? somehow its non refundable or something

and also to hold onto the sqa until paypal protection has expried, ie buyer couldnt get refund and keep ur account

this does still put some risk tho, buyer could do dmg to your toons/account and u get them back in bad shape
and have to pretend like u got hack and ask GM to restore items, bad bad lol

anyhow i think i may just insist on western union or bank wire , I think bank account/real name is not a huge risk, you would need photo ID , real one not a copy to withdraw from my checking account or w/e

apparently if you set up a checking account with zero balance, no credit line, and no overdraft ability.
then it would be safe to disclose the bank account info

problem is modern technology allows for automated check clearing bullcrap

so yes an intelegent person or even some kiddie who works somewhere with check cashing machine or debit terminal could potentiallrip ya off

Alright. Here is what I can tell you in regards to your questions. PayPal seller protection does not apply with virtual goods that have no tracking ID. Should the user file a claim, you will, in most cases, lose. If you deposit the funds and clear them in your bank and then withdraw for cash in hand, you have to realize this requires linking your bank account to your PayPal. If you do that, PayPal has the right to stick their hands in your bank account to withdraw money and pay any outstanding debts. If the user were to file a charge back and you had no PayPal balance and no cash in the bank, they will overdraft your bank account countless times and pile enormous charges.

As for the ID. Since the ID is only a *photocopy* and not a *real* ID, there is no valid way that I can feasibly believe they can steal your identity. If that were the case, any person who makes great fake IDs could do so. Furthermore, any issuance of credit, bank accounts, etc. in your name requires more than just an ID. More than just a scan/photocopy to be more forthcoming.

I personally am not comfortable about the ID myself, and have not completed a transaction that requires my ID. It's a personal issue I have that I just don't want people to have my information. I have nothing to hide, it's just my privacy. I'm not obligated to transact with them, so I turn them down politely.

Blizzard requires the ID in the even the account is locked for suspected compromises (i.e the original owner isn't the one playing the account). Then you must fill out an account retrieval form that they send to you in PDF format to be sent back via e-mail or post.

Having them send you the money as a "Gift" IS nonrefundable. You can also do the SQA 45 days (after they cannot file a claim) after the transaction over PayPal. HOWEVER, as with ANY stolen PayPal or credit-based charge, there IS an undo button. Whether or not you think it's possible, PayPal transactions can be chargedback as far as the credit card company (most pay with credit over PayPal) will allow them to. in some instances, this may extend to a year after the transaction takes place. Same goes for gifting the money. Let's be honest, who will win in the battle? PayPal vs. Credit Card Company. Hmmm. I believe the one who issued the credit in the first place will!

WU is a great option, in my opinion, especially since it requires upfront information on both the buyer/seller. It makes it possible to verify you are sending it to someone intended, there is a tracking ID, and you can file a police report in their local region should something occur.

Well, if I can jump in this.

You can refund a gift... Period...

Anything sold that is digital if the person charges it back, you lose the case and the money goes to them.

The best way to go about it is to send them something in the mail with a tracking number that way you have something that is tangible and is not digital.

For example if you sold a WOW account to someone you send them a letter with the SQA - Tracked and now you have seller protection.

Gift doesn't matter.. I had someone send me a 700$ Gift that was charged back in 1 hour..
