I purchased a pre-owned account (Warcraft), from a reputable vendor that has a lot of traffic on these forums, about 4 months ago.
We set up the new account so it matched the original owners information, and then transferred one of the characters to the new (my) account.
Whoever thinks this is safe is wrong. Wrong wrong wrong.
It appears the original owner of the account was able to get all of their characters back with the help of Blizzard. This could allow some serious scamming.
I could level up some characters, sell them off to a vendor - wait a few months for the characters to be resold and get geared up, then call Blizzard and say I was hacked.
If this vendor has a 100% guarantee on pre-owner accounts (when they are properly moved to a new account) - Should I expect a refund after only 4 months of use?
I felt pretty safe with the guarantee, but I am getting the feeling it might involve a lot of pushing on my side to get a refund (or replacement via leveling).
Moral of the story: If it doesn't have your name on it, forget about it.
