All members now have two new options when it comes to managing their threads.
  • Sold
  • Delete
Sold - This allows members to easily mark their threads as sold once an item sells. This will automatically add the "sold" tag to their thread and permanently close it. Once sold, it can't be reopened. Sold threads can't be deleted or edited.

Deleted - This allows all members to deleted their own threads, with a few restrictions.

a) You can't delete a thread if it was used for feedback. Please use "Sold" instead.
b) You can't delete a thread if there's an active report opened for any post inside the thread. Once the report is resolved and closed, you can then delete it.

Due to the nature of these threads, being a marketplace for buyers and sellers, these threads are not permanently deleted. They are just no longer publicly available. We need to maintain records for legal purposes and in case of a scam or dispute. If someone is banned, all "deleted" threads will be restored to warn the community about that member.

You can find these new options in the ... menu at the top right of all of your threads.

Delete should be made available only for upgraded (or even just verified/trusted) members. Even with those restrictions, it will be abused a lot.

Only staff can view this content.

Open - close - sold options should have been enough.

Keep delete option for staff only, pretty sure its gonna be a mess otherwise.

Delete is in response to GDPR for EU members.

Member's have been editing their threads and removing everything to get around not having a way to delete threads. The edit loophole was worse because not only did it delete the content, but it leaves a junk thread sitting around. At least this way they can delete the thread and and there's no junk left over.

If a scammer or someone that's being accused of scamming tries to abuse this tool, it will actually make our job easier because we can take deletion action as admission of guilt, ban them, then restore everything they deleted. So in the end, abusing this tool will make it easier for us to ban scammers.

I agree too but I also like the idea of getting rid of junk threads as I almost always encounter 1-2 on every page I mod. Maybe a "Do not edit your thread to make it seem like it is deleted" warning/infraction sort of thing could have helped but that's just my opinion.

We'll have to see how it goes as members we never had this option yet.

I normaly don't bump old posts. But i myself am kinda weary of your statement
... easier because we can take deletion action as admission of guilt, ban them, then restore everything they deleted.

According to GDPR law when a user asks to remove everything it should be done. No exceptions. Unless they purchased something from your site. Then you can keep the documentation of the purchase. But you can not keep a log of what the user searched for - looked at - ... . You can only keep a record of the sale. And as the site is mainly a hub for person to person sales you have legaly no right to keep the data hidden. A delete should be a delete.
