I'm happy to announced our new automated Sticky Thread Payment & Management system. The system is intended to make threads available in forums that have been sold out for long periods of time.

Below you can find a list of features and an FAQ at the bottom to answer some of your questions.

Sticky Thread Payment & Management system

Features

  • Automated sticky/unsticky threads - Once purchased your thread will be automatically sticked within 1-2 minutes. No more waiting! It will also be automatically unsticked if your thread expires.
  • Automated notifications - Members will automatically be notified via PM 5 days before a thread is set to expire.
  • My Threads List - Members now have a single page where they can see and manage all their sticky threads. Threads will be removed from the list once they expire.
  • Outbid System - A new outbid system has been added to allow members the ability to purchase threads in forums that are sold out by paying a higher price. The outbid option will only appear in sold out forums.

Outbid FAQ

Who can be outbid?
Any thread can be outbid.

If my thread is outbid, do I lose my sticky thread?
Yes, however your thread will not be unstuck until the end of your billing cycle, the expiration date. If you have a recurring subscription, the subscription will be canceled.

If I outbid someone when will my thread appear?
Your thread will appear once the other thread expires.

Can I be outbid after I outbid someone?
If you outbid somone no one can outbid you during the first 30 days. After 30 days, you can be outbid by someone else.

What happens if all 3 threads in a forum are outbid?
Once all 3 threads our outbid, the prices for that forum will be increased and the ability to outbid will be available again.

Example: Warcraft forum is sold out and all 3 threads have been outbid

Normal price = $20/month
Outbid price = $30/month

The forum prices will be increased:

New Normal price = $30/month
New Outbid price = $40/month

The ability to outbid will become available once prices have been updated.

I'm currently paying in bulk (3 to 6 months upfront), what will happen to my thread/s?
Bulk payments will only be accepted in forums that are not sold out. If your thread is in a sold out forum, you will not be able to renew for another 3 or 6 months. You will have to renew through the new system.

Are payment recurring like before?
Yes and No.

Payments are recurring for normal sticky thread purchases.
Outbid payments are not recurring.

The first outbid payment is a 1 month payment (non-recurring). Five (5) days before your thread expires you will have the ability to renew. The renewal payment will be a recurring payment.

What happens when I click outbid? Do I pay right away? Does the current owner have a chance to increase the price in order to keep his thread?

When you click outbid you'll make a one-time payment right away. Once the other thread expires your thread will be sticked. Five days before you're thread expires you'll get an option to renew with a recurring subscription. If you renew, monthly billing will be automatic, if not, your thread will be unstuck.

That is very unfair towards the current owner of the thread.
What if I'm ready to pay more in order to keep the thread? No one should be able to steal my thread just by paying more, without me being asked if I'm ready to pay more as well in order to keep it.
And he even gets one month protection. Very unfair.

My suggestion would be to make something like this:

Let's say that I have a sticky thread for which I'm paying $20 each month.

1. Someone outbids me by bidding $30. He pays right away.
2. I get a notification saying that I was outbid. I have 3 days to make a choice, to keep the thread by paying $30 and extending it for 30 more days, or to give up on it.
3a. If I select to give up on it, the buyer gets it when it expires and gets 30 days protection from outbids.
3b. If I select to keep it, I pay $30 right away, get 30 more days and 30 days protection, thread price increases to $30 and the buyer gets refunded.
4. EpicNPC gets the same profit, while it's fair for the thread owner.

It seems http://www.epicnpc.com/stickyads.php doesnt work atm
[h=2]vBulletin Message[/h]wowguys, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

  1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
  2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

It has been turned back on.

The majority of the system is working as intended. There are two issues we are still fixing, but they are very specific and should not affect the vast majority of members.

Known issues:

1) If you're thread is outbid by someone, then you try to outbid someone else to renew your thread, you'll get an error.
2) Outbid threads aren't displaying on the "My Sticky Threads" tab.
