LOTRO gold: safe to buy?

I just started playing LOTRO and would like to know how safe it is to buy in-game gold?

I see plenty of TW sellers here for lotro but are there things i need to do on my end to not get flagged/banned? For instance, is it safe to use the in-game mail system?

You always take a risk whenever you buy gold/buy accounts/buy leveling.
It's part of dealing, if you're even the slightest bit worried about what will happen, don't take the risk.

Im willing to accept some risk but not having been involved in the lotro community i have no idea what level of risk im taking buying gold.

If it's on par with WoW, that's acceptable...if it's higher than WoW then i would definately think twice.
