lead content designer Kevin Martens for D3 stated that loot 2.0 is meant to make the auction house almost irrelevant making it a last resort for players.

the loot (2.0) system and the enchanting and crafting systems are both intended to cut the legs out from the auction house; to make it unnecessary to go on it to some degree

Loot 2.0′ will add “smart drop” items, which are tuned to your character.

So by "tuned" does he mean bound? I think it must mean "account bound" otherwise I'm not really sure how these new "smart drops" are supposed to keep players away from the auction house.

I think the're just making it worse. Anyone who really hated the AH is long gone, so now you're just going to piss off the players that did like it.

Interesting.

One of the things I've most enjoyed reading about WoW, even without playing it still, was their improvements to getting rid of RNG from drops.

First things first, with the new expansion coming out all your characters will be same paragon level and since then you will level all of them together. Meaning, ex: if you have paragon 35barb, paragon 15mage etc your characters become highest paragon level which is in this case paragon level 35, (so your wizard is 35 too). From there every time you play on barb or mage the exp will go account wise.

Secondly, by "tuned" they mean that if you play with the barbarian and an item drops it will automatically have a chance when identified to be good for barb (chance is still small but it will be there). So, by playing different classes you will hunt items "tuned" for those classes.

I hope it makes sense :)
