Is it illegal to sell, buy or trade accounts

Banned - Making multiple accounts to avoid negative feedback
Different games have different rules, for example in World of tanks you can't buy/sell accounts and if you get in trouble (for example getting scammed by seller getting his account back) - you can't do anything about it and you get no refund or whatever.

My first customer from Greece trusted human beings too much and he bought my account when email change was not possible (because of recent phone number removal) and I sold him my account without email, and guess what? After few weeks of waiting, already trying to sell it again on same forums (here) I got all my information back and sold it again, this time with email.

So most games are against financial transactions not controlled by them and they won't give you any support if you get scammed by a ****** bag like me. I saw an opportunity and took it, sorry.

I'm writing this because right now I'm in jail serving my sentence for that scam and got nothing to do.

It is illegal to sell accounts because the accounts "belongs to them (the company)" and is not yours. Usually before you agree to the Terms of Use you'll see one rule regarding selling accounts.
Usually when one gets caught selling his/her own account, it will be permanently locked/banned. But it's a really small chance to get banned.

If you look around you'll see a lot of accounts being sold in many different forums, in many different kind of games. The chance of getting banned when selling an account is very small, but it is there.
It is most likely that you will not get banned though.

Yes, it is legal. Terms of Service agreements are not laws. While against the ToS, there has never been a court ruling to determine who is the rightful owner to a game account (in the US), hence it is not illegal.

In 2012 in the European Court of Justice it was ruled that ALL digital licenses can be resold without exception. This means if your account is banned because it was sold and you live in the EU, you have a legal right to sue the gaming company as it is illegal for them to prevent you from reselling your digital license.

Most game companies have not changed their TOS, even in the EU, after this ruling. According to the TOS companies can still ban your account for selling it, which is illegal in the EU. The reason it has not changed is because no player or group of players have ever sued a game company for a banned account due to selling or trading.
