So someone has offered to buy my account, but they don't have money until May 15th. They have requested that I let them play on the account without changing the email or any of that business with the promise of sending the money and doing all the account change on May 15th.

Is there any actual risk to my account by doing this? The only thing I can think of and I'm not sure if this is possible or not is that they could transfer my characters to another account without needing to change the email or anything?

I haven't dealt with WoW accounts in awhile and I'm not sure what kind of security pre-cautions they have put in or what kind of new security implements they have placed. But I wouldn't recommend doing it, assuming you're talking about WoW accounts, it's just unsafe for you to let someone else play on your account.

1) They could put an authenticator on it
2) They could do something in-game that will cause your account to be flagged and/or banned
3) They could end up ruining your characters in-game, possibly de-valuing your account (but I guess a GM can usually solve that right?)

In the end, I would just wait for the money but as far as transfers go... I haven't touched WoW in about 3 years so I think back then you could simply do it if it's on the account but you would need some sort of security question to take it off the account?

Need the secret answer to transfer characters off of an account. To simply server transfer to another server you do not need the secret answer.

To change the email you need the secret answer as well.

Both of these things can be done by calling in and if you get the right rep and they know your address and phone it can be done w/out the secret answer though.

Selling an account on your own can be a risky proposition but you can negate most risks by insisting on certain things. Giving someone you don't know your account info prior to payment or any sort of verification of them as a buyer---not so secure.

In the end it's all about how you feel about doing it though. Do you trust the person buying it, and if so, why? Are they highly repped on this site or another? Have you verified that by requesting a PM? I can't really see a verified member asking for this sort of scenario but I guess it might happen.

Most things like this however are simply scams. If the account is a big deal to you I'd just wait until you felt 100% comfortable selling it.

As stated : Unless the user has a TON more feedback than you/is verified and all that I would never let someone on my account before I was paid.
