How Do I Avoid My Newly Bought WoW Account Getting BANNED?

Hi, I've recently made a purchase of a World of Warcraft account for a significant sum of money. I did several procedures to ensure that the sale is fail-proof by obtaining the original owner's driver license, all the necessary contact info associated with the account, and upon the purchase, I immediately transferred the account to another account. In addition, I used my friedn's billing info to create an account and used game-cards to make the billing payment (to avoid any association with my previous account which got BANNED for utilizing asian item "hunting" service)

Now the problem is that the account got banned for "no apparent reason." What's most horrific is that I haven't gotten a single email as to why the account was banned.

I would love to purchase an account again but I am scared [censored]. I would like to point out to you that I had my previous account banned for using "illegal item searching service."

Now here's my question for any of you who are kind enough to give ma an answer: How do I ensure that Blizzard doesn't ban my new prospective account? How did they even find out that the newly purchased account was mine in the first place? Most importantly, what are the procedures I shoujld take before making another purchase? I was thinking of taking actions listed below:

1. Reinstalling WoW application since I read on some sites that Blizzard can easily associate an account to another account through info provided from [censored] folders and whatnot.

2. Once again, creating another new account using different person's billing info and transferring the character over.

3. Some said something about reinstalling the entire OS to "change SUID?"

4. Change IP Address?

Are those the right things for me to do?

if its a fresh account, realistically the only way the accounts can be related if
a) shared IP within a very short period of time
b) credit card / transfer history

otherwise, you ought to be in the clear!

good luck!

If you have had an account banned with a previous IP, your IP has been flagged and will be acted upon accordingly.

Thank you so much for the prompt response! I wanted to ask more about your first part of the response:

"a) shared IP within a very short period of time "

By that, are you referring to using the same IP/Computer to log into the new account I purchased? Or using one IP/Computer to access several accounts simultaneously?

Upon the purchase of an account its pretty commonplace for the seller to show you the character in game. If you log on immediately after buying the account the IP change might flag for blizzard, also if you transfer to a new account immediately after you buy the character the IP change will most definitely trigger a flag for blizz.

Hope this helped

You guys have been terrific. Thank you very much!

So to recap you guys' responses:

Changing IP//reinstalling WoW//reinstalling OS are steps too excessive and don't need to be taken?

Hmm... can they technically track my IP address though? Seeing how I was banned before (twice), I believe my IP address is flagged, unless I am being overtly paranoid...

yes, the can technically blacklist specific IPs, or even if you log in and out of two accounts within a really short period of time. if you want to be REALLY safe, route your connection through a virtual private network to mask your IP address.

Hey Boneshaman, thank you very much for the suggestion. Unfortunately I would like to stress out that I am just a humble lowly accountant and I believe I don't have any grasp in anything related to computer. Would purchasing and installing this mask my "ip address?"

If not, please let me know what product you use or any suggestions on a realiable product that I can use to "mask my ip" that's relatively easy to set up for a huge novice like me. =(

Once again, I am grateful for all the helpful comments. I would've bought you guys free fried chicken and beer only if you guys are close.

Router? I already have a router. Someone told me that Tor could do the trick. Trying to install the program now.

dont bother.

www.strongvpn.com makes like much easier on you, just sign up for an account and follow the video tutorial. really great value and speed if i dont say so myself.

(this is a good method to log in and out of multiple accounts, everytime you connect, you get a one time use IP generated by the server - which makes it look like your are in CA) this more or less guarantees protection from an IP ban / banning.

Boneshaman and other moderators, you guys are awesome. Gonna read up more on this new link that you've posted. Thank you very much and try it out. Thank you!
