I was looking to buy an account to get back into the game. I came across a character on another sites board. I contact the seller, and he informs me that there is no time on the account. He allows me to log in and put a month on it to check it out.
When I log on, I get blasted with whispers, most of them involve the word "THEIF". I come to find out that this person sold the account to his own guild mate, then recalled it.
He denies this. I give him the benefit of the doubt through all this, but tell him the only way I'd do the sale is through an account transfer. At this point, he changed the password, and blocks me from aim, wasting the money I put on the account.
One thing he did not count on was that I was still logged into his account page. I realize that all I need to do was get the guys first last name. So I use the address on the account, coupled with the first name, and create the new account, and transfer the character off! All the while i was talking the guy who origionally bought it, and I added up the price for the new key I bought, the transfer fee, and the one month, and sold him the account for that much.
The best part is that the scammer IMs me two days later throwing a fit because he isnt the OO, and doesnt know the secret QA to ge the character back.
I hope anyone who gets scammed learns one thing from this. If you have the password, you can still [censored] with a scammer. Take a breath, stay calm, and do as much damage as you can!
