Hiya Gang:

I haven't posted in a while, mainly because I had a good experience buying an account here. As I mentioned I have had the account for months now.

However, the OO wanted to get back to WoW and created new chars and we started talking again via email.
Just recently, I was asked about providing my new char info so that he/she can check the char out on the armory.

Even though I trust this person, I am still bit paranoid, esp. if his/her friend decide to do something nasty.

What would you guys do? Would providing the new account info compromise the security of the account any more than the inherent risks already associated with account buying?

At this point, the char is on a new account, new name, new server. I am thinking about linking it to a new Bnet account. However, I am still little weary of using different name/address for the bnet account and the WoW account. (I read that it is possible to do that, but who knows what would happen in the future...)

Sorry if I am paranoid, but I have been scammed twice already before I finally got a good purchase.

thanks much

technically its YOUR account after purchase, and with the new account and whatnot there really isn't much the original owner can do to recall it without the hassle.

thus you have 2 options:
1) allow him to transfer, however in lieu of the security risks, ask him to trust you (as you have been a great buyer thus far) - get him to tender payment to you for all new accounts, transfers etc and do it for him (then obviously provide him with the account information) - if you need more help with this im usually available to advise.

2) tell him to scrub off seeing is your account

i would recommend the first option as a disgruntled and sometimes immature original owner will then proceed to attempting a recall of the account.

weighing both sides, you will not lose much for both options, but the chances are better if you pursue the first. i mean, why not?

Thank you for the guidance.

I sent him a nameless armory link of the char. I hope he is okay with that. TBH, it is not the original seller that I am worried about but rather possibly one of his friend decided to be an a-hole.
If he asks for more info, I think I will just have to tell him my concerns and decline.

@MARCKLAM: I am bit confused about option 1. What did you mean by allowing him to transfer? (sorry I can be a bit dense

Edit: if you don't mind, may I bother you for a bit over on AIM, my screen name is binbigr. Thanks much!
I have been following the developement of the whole Bnet account management. Does the WoW account info ever get overwritten by the bnet account info?

If not, then it is very possible that in the future, blizz could just run a script to check for mismatching bnet and WoW account info, and ban those that have different info.

Though I am not experienced in dealing with the hivemind at Blizz. From a programmer POV, doing such a check is definitely not hard to implement.

what are your thoughts?

say he sold you a level 80 rogue with a level 60 mage alt and now he wants the mage alt.

therefore, get him to pay you 80USD for (battlechest, wotlk) + 25USD transfer free. you then purchase all the above for him and initiate the transfer using your credit card.

after the transfer has been completed on the new account you give him the full account information and he walks away happy. if he decides there is a security risk then instruct him regarding how to merge it with a battle.net account.

however, if your existing account is already merged with a battle.net account, the old option would be to create ANOTHER battle.net account for the new account with matching details to yours, then proceed to transfer between battle.net accounts.

when merging to battle.net accounts, yes, it does overwrite the existing account details. however, bear in mind the original owner AKA yourself is only 1 phone call and a fax away from removing that merging.

good luck! if you need more clarification i will aim you directly or be more than happy to ventrilo with you.
