What is the dispute about?
I bought a fortnite account from the seller. He misrepresented some stuff initially but I was pretty naive, accepted it, and moved on.
The account was attempted to be recovered. I happened to be online when it happened and was able to stop it, but now support have shut down the account.
I have information that paints a pretty bad picture for the seller.
I requested all account information via the epic games account center when taking control of it, which gave me a full history of the activity on the account.
The seller changed the account to his email 3-4 months ago, and linked xbox live to the account 1 month ago.
Xbox live was used to recover the account.
Other details / notes:
When I took control of the account, the seller assured me it would be clear of 2FA and linked accounts. It had mobile 2fa authentication still enabled and was linked to xbox live. I unlinked all accounts, disabled all 2FA except my email, and signed out all active sessions via the account center.
When I was finished, Xbox live WAS unlinked via the epic games account center. HOWEVER Epic games marries allows the first xbox live account that was linked to the epic account. from the moment it is linked, it was there for life. so all he had to do was log in again via fortnite / xbox live to relink the account.
At this stage the seller was able to re-add mobile authentication as 2FA. I did some research on how this may be, as I don't think my email was hacked. Unique long password etc. I suspect the seller had used an authenticator app to generate backup login codes prior to selling the account that allowed him to bypass the email 2FA on my account. I found information in the account history that backs this up.
User has deleted the EpicNPC thread since selling the account to me.
Proof
######################
You MUST provide proof or your claim will not be valid!
Chat Log Screenshots (make sure username is visible, not display username):
Not very familiar with discord so I hope these screenshots suffice.
Payment Screenshots (make sure the accused email is visible):
logging into paypal does not show the email address of the seller, but it does show the username of the email - I highlighted that part, as well as removed the real name associated with that email because privacy.
I may be able to get a screenshot of an email from paypal that may have his email in it, just dont have that device with me at the moment so let me know if it is absolutely required.
Other proof:
Account Recalls
######################
Most account recalls have little proof. To get more evidence, please open a support ticket to attempt to recover the account BEFORE opening a dispute thread.
Lucky in this case I have a lot of proof. As mentioned I have a PDF of the full account history, here are two screenshots of the relevant parts, I can provide the full history to a moderator. Also I am attaching a snippet of my email history to show how it went down.
Email change - when the seller took ownership of the account - matches the email he gave me access to.
Xbox live linking - note the dates - after the seller took control of the account.
Email summary of what happened
I was in a bit of a panic when he was retaking the account so I didn't take a screenshot to show it was 'chea gewl' but anyone with an epic games account can verify that only one xbox live account can link to an epic games account. specifically fortnite.
I did try and link my own email as the 'linked xbox live account' to try overwrite his credentials after unlinking his xbox live (in a panic, before I knew what I mention above), this is what I got.
Did the seller say he's the original owner? (provide proof)
In the original (Deleted) thread it was flagged as him being the original owner.
What account information did the seller provide you at the time of sale? (ID, SQA, etc)
Email access, account name / password
How long did you have the account before it was recalled?
2-3 days.
If you have a support ticket about this recall, please post screenshots of it.
(you can use the HIDE tag so the images are not publicly available to everyone)
