FFXIV review from TTH 92/100

TenTonHammer is giving FFXIV: A Realm Reborn a 92/100 after giving the first iteration of the game a 75/100.

The reviewer constantly says that there is absolutely nothing unique about the game, so I don't see how it could possibly get that high of a score. The only thing I read that's sounded good was that you can be all the classes with one character. GW2 at least mixed things up with WvW and no quest hubs, seems like FFXIV is just more of the same.

they are either grossly overrating games or that reviewer never even played the game.

I would personally review it 85/100... it's final fantasy with wow mechanics cloned and the questing event system from gw2 cloned. I personally find it quite fun but don't really see me playing this game long term. (this probably has more to do with my general lack of interest in playing mmo's and games of any kind these days..)

FFXIV was very unique... FFXIV v2 is the same game but with standard wow & gw2 questing / dungeon systems literally cloned and has been infinitely more successful than v1. What does that tell you? People ***** about games being wow clones, but only the wow clones are ever successful... hmm

Ya I don't see how this game is a 92...

It adds nothing new to the MMO genre.


It is a bit above average, but especially with all the issues they have had with launch a 92 is laughable.

While it might not add anything new the overall production quality and balance are amazing and it definitely has a lot going for it.

No matter how technically good they make a MMO, it is only as good as its player base. For one reason or another, FFXIV just isn't there yet. Its a very impressive looking game with great developers, and has alot of potential if it ever catches on.
