Does this work? I have an account that I have full information to (and CD keys and all that) that according to blizzard got "compromised"....even though it didn't, so they're asking for me to fax in an ID.

My friend said that they also require you to get some stamp of approval from the post office too. Can anyone clarify or share their experience as to how this ID verification thing works?

yes u have to have a notarized pic of your id, with your account name, email.... and keys wouldn't hurt either

what does notarized mean? like what is the process exactly? because the email I got says just to fax them a copy of the ID =\

is there another form that you have to fill out afterwards? I'm just trying to get an idea of whether there's any way i can get my account back, because it was essentially locked for no reason.

It depends what your email says, in the directions it will say if you need it notarized or not if it s your first time then you probably wont need it notarized.

they just sent me the usual "go to this form http://ftp.blizzard.com/pub/WoW/other/Account-Retrieval.pdf" with no reference to getting an ID notarized, which is why I was wondering if it was a separate step, or if anyone who has actually gone through these steps can tell me what happens or if i should even bother attempting to unlock my account.

ah ok. well after googling i found out there's 2 account retrieval forms: one that requires notarization and one that doesn't. i'm assuming if i got the one that doesn't mention notarization that it means all i have to do is fax a copy of the photo ID?

or are there 2 steps?

A notary that does 'notarization' is someone that's taken a few classes and has become registered as an official person to be a third party and oversee the signing of documents to make then legit. Certain things such as marriage licenses or court documents require a notary to sign. They look at your ID, take a quick look at the document, make a copy for public records, take about ten-twenty bucks and say, "Thankyou sir."

If you want something to become official and be stored by the government for legal reasons, you see a notary. Or if you just need a third party (witness) signature on an agreement for something like a loan, etc.
