Email Issue + DDOS Attack

At 11:30 am EST today epicnpc.com was hit with a DDOS attack which we've been working to mitigate. The site is back up, however there is an issue with emails which we are working to resolve. At this time no emails are being sent out by the site.

Registration has been disabled until emails are working again. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Update Nov 4th - Most likely you have noticed that Epicnpc.com has been down for 5 days. It began with a DDOS attack, which turned into an issue with our old web host as they were unhappy with the fact that we're a regular target of DDOS attacks. They decided to null our server for 3 days and ignore any contact attempts I made to resolve the issue until Monday. This was completely unacceptable and we decided to terminate our service with them. We are now on a new web host that came highly recommended for DDOS protection and we have taken additional steps to harden the server against future attacks. Some of these changes are still being worked on.

The last two days have been spent setting up the new server, transferring the site to it and then setting up the site.

At this time emails and search are still not working, but both should be fixed within an hour.

I apologize for the long downtime and appreciate everyone's patience during this time.

ps. We will be adding 5 days to anyone that had a paid sticky thread or banner ad.

Update 2: Search is now working again. Emails will be fixed soon.

Update 3: Emails are now working. That should be everything. If you notice something broken, please post here.

Update 4: We are still being attacked and are working to mitigate it. At this time emails are no longer working again.

Update 5: We are still being attacked so there might be more downtime ahead. Emails are working again.

Update 6 - Nov 5th: We are having issues with email delivery, PMs and purchases (credits, upgrades). There can be 1-2 hr delays from the time of purchase to when you receive your credits or upgrade.

Its pretty weird when I thought im the only one whose experiencing this problem, because when a friend of my try to visit the page from other country it did works fine, for a moment or so during the downtime. No idea how is that happening.

On Friday the site was up/down for most of the day so if it was that day, that's the reason. His browser might have also been loading from cache if he was just viewing.
 
Thanks for the updates. The past few days must have been rather stressful. That's some poor business practice to nullify one's server and ignore their attempts of contact.
 
Great to have you back :) Hopefully this new protection will work out fine and we will have no more downtime from now on.
 
new members can't register apparently they get an error. that's what a customer of mine said anyways.
 
There seems to be a problem creating a new session when a user revisits the forum.
When I open EpicNPC after 15-20 mins of inactivity, I'm not logged in even though I used the remember me option.
However, clicking on any link or simply refreshing the page will log me in.
 
I have a similar problem, when using my mac, I just put in my user and I hit enter and it says wrong info, but when I go to another page im logged in without putting password, im not sure how this is happing just thought I'd let u know
 
I lost some of my previous statuses on EPICNPC, not sure why, maybe someone can look into it, thanks.
 
I paid for credits a few hours ago and still have not received them on my account.
 
Did you buy the credits from the top of the page and not from next to someone elses name?
 
Two-factor authentication doesn't seem to work...keeps giving me "invalid code".

Top of the page like I always do, still not delivered. Also, I can send you or someone a PM with a SS of the transaction number of the paypal transaction, or whatever I have to to prove the money was sent, still never got the credits yet.

There also seems to be issues with Private Messages, they do go through, but they seem to be stuck at loading when you send, and it looks like they don't go through, but they do.

Do you know approximately when will those issues be fully resolved ?
 
The attack has been ongoing to 8 days, so when they stop attacking it will be fully resolved. At this time we are mitigating the attack, however they are attacking in multiple different ways not just DDOS, so we are trying to counter everything they are doing.
