Any clue what the "sabotage" was?
 
Typical EGS stuff, monarch got exposed for being a fraud/not paying is employee by some ex-MM. They posted about the forum on it, now hes coming out saying hes been victim of another situation blablah im sure btrev will come in and hook you up with the juicy detail
 
Here is the full details and my POV on it:

I have never seen so much drama created by one male human being. The "CEO" of EGS is a man that goes by the handle Monarch. Over the past 2 years, there have been a load of claims about him stealing from his employees by not paying them what they deserved. There has been a more recent incident that makes me thankful that I do not rely on that community for anything. Here is the post from EGS forums by Artemys who was a Senior Staff Member prior to Monarch going on his "20-day vacation" (seems that there is always an excuse with this guy):

Monarch is currently away and hasn't been on for some time, due to this he has missed payment for us middlemen.

I had previously told Monarch that should he miss payment one more time I would step down. He's been out for 2 weeks now with no word. He hasn't paid some of the MMs, and he hasn't paid any of us for December.
I checked the company Plimus account as I was going to refund some people their Middleman Transaction IDs and I got the message saying there was no funds available, meaning Monarch withdrew everything.
To those waiting for their services, I apologize. I advise you file a chargeback. Heck I advise everyone who can to file a chargeback on anything they purchased from Monarch, since he owes people money and has stolen from us technically speaking. Don't let him have free cash. The Middleman Service is pretty much the only thing keeping EGS afloat. To those who have recently purchased Middleman Transactions, you may have noticed I refunded them and sent you a PM, similar to this including the following:

The months not mentioned he paid for, some were a bit late but he paid.
As you've all noticed Monarch has gotten more and more ridiculous with every post he makes.
He's VERY disrespectful to the staff and members. He is childish and annoys the staff via Messenger with inappropriate posts and spam (Staff be kind to verify this for me).

There's also been recent Staff applications for both Moderator and Middleman that were never replied to. Monarch had asked me to take charge and determine who would meet the requirements. Truth be told, when I gave my opinions and comments he would completely ignore what I say and end up getting someone else who didn't apply and was new to the forums (no offense to you guys, but please see this from my perspective. Luckily you all are great people).
As for middleman applicants, I'm glad he didn't get anyone as it would been one more angry person who didn't get paid.

I'm more than confident I'll be removed for this. I expect to be. More importantly I urge everyone who reads this to not be tempted to Middleman for him. Everything everyone has ever said about Monarch being a Scammer and a Liar, From Infamous Flame(Former Admin, was removed for site sabotage) to Derfy(Same as Infmaous Flame) to Bassline(Unpaid Middleman, was removed for holding accounts ransom for not getting paid), . It's all true. Please note, here I'm referring only to personal comments they made towards Monarch as a person. In the case of Infamous Flame, Derfy and Bassline; I did not approve of the actions they choose to take, nor do I encourage nor entertain them. I'm merely pointing out the fact that evern that far back, his own staff spoke out against him in this manner of not Paying his Middleman or of being a rude CEO and insulting staff and members.
More recently, Astralfow(Former MM,Removed for publicly posting against Monarch for not getting Paid) was removed for the reasons I stated.
He wasn't in the same league as the for-mentioned trio but he was also an unpaid Middleman, like myself who was removed for illuminating the mass.

However unlike the actions some of the before mentioned took, I wont do such a thing. I'll never resort to "stealing accounts" or anything like that.
I'll continue to offer Middleman services but not through EGS. If anyone would like, please don't purchase it, but rather PM me, Artemys.

But it doesn't stop there, read this: EGS , a reputable member but scammed my $200

He scammed someone for $200 there.
I'm not even going to start about what he does with the money, use your imagination, you're probably right.

I was patient with Monarch for a long time. I offered my help to him to make
EGS better many times, only to be shot down or insulted.

I'm sure many of you have noticed a decline in staff activity also, especially our higher tier Staff. In reality they're just like our Jr.Mods, they don't have the ability to actually help, as Monarch gives no permissions.

I am hoping to see all the staff here really put in 200% throughout the month, and I am hoping that I will have the excitement to hold a staff meeting via Ventrillo at the month to share our success, our total revenue, and announce the amount of money that will be equally shared amongst all of EGS staff members. I am putting my trust in you to work together and to work with me hard throughout the rest of December.

He has reaped what he has sown.

All in all, I am not impressed with that community. It is amazing to me that people have not jumped ship. Also, the amount of banned scammers from Markee Dragon and MMOBay that still exist on the EGS forums is baffling.

My money is on EGS to be forum to watch for a terrible collapse.

As for the sabotage, it was this quoted post being spammed across every forum on that site. I got a great laugh out of it :)
 
why would artemys have continued working month-after-month so dedicatedly if money was owed to him? Why would he work for "free" if money was so obviously important to him? Greed changes people. He saw an opportunity and sold out to a third-party site, and that is why the false allegations were made: To lure you to fraudulent website.

It ends here. Egs is the safest place to buy, sell, and trade anything mmorpg; this is our passion!

Let me elaborate on the "Sabotage"
Ask any member "privately" as they may not have the balls to do this publicly in fear of getting banned by Monarch, especially ASP members. Before Monarch went to jail (his so called 20day vacation), he implemented a Christmas skin he "created and spent hours on it" (we later came to find out he actually got the design from another site and tried to claim it as his own, courtesy of Kendrah1), when he implemented that skin he messed up his forum coding and everything went haywire. Threads were redirecting, posts disappeared, ect.
When he got out of jail and saw what I had done, he obviously got pissed, covered it all up and made his sob story and tried to blame everything on me.

Now, to explain on what I did. I merely confirmed Monarch's actions publicly. The reason I spammed it was because people were purchasing into his memberships and Middleman services, and I didn't want him to take the proceeds again. He says it's not his fault because he was in jail, but I told him he has to be more responsible regardless and unless he was incapacitated due to health or a TRUE emergency I wouldn't hear it. I say true emergency because not too long ago he had jumped into a shallow hole filled with water from a very high distance nearly killing himself and injuring his back severely. That's not a true emergency, that's an emergency his stupidity put him into.
Also, notice my posts could have been taken down at anytime by other Moderators or Admin, but they weren't. If you ask why it'll be because they were true. Notice how all staff was removed.

Also, for a few days Monarch had a thought of the day as to why I would continue MMing for "free" if I was never paid. He choose his words carefully there as I never said I was never paid, I said I was never paid what was due for the months mentioned + December. I've also MMed for free for people before many times. When I saw Monarch had automatically withdrawn all the Middleman dues form Plimus for December, I decided to act as I had told him no more slip ups. I found out when I was trying to refund payments to 3 people who purchased the MM service, there was no funds to refund even one. I told them should they want to use the MM service I'll honor their Ids. I performed a good deal of free MM services before I eventually asked that they send payment to me instead of Monarch.
One of the funny things is, Monarch asks me everyday on MSN to go back and put everything behinds us and to MM for EGS again.

Ask all former staff, Monarch NEVER read his PMs. Never. Staff would PM him, members would PM him asking for refunds, ect. These reports he's gotten is a way in which he's trying to get members to purchase the MM service, and the funny thing is, there's no MM right now. So no one will get the service, and if someone is stupid enough to step up, they wont get paid.
 
I don't know much about it but i had my paypal ruined by a scammer from that site :\ which is why i went to MD
 
Thanks Brtev and Art for the elaborate posts, both containing a bunch of detail. I will definitely check out that site Brtev so I can be up to date, because I find Monarch's immaturity hilarious. I wish you the best of luck Art in finding another MM job.

I was lucky enough to join the site at the points above..the posts were everywhere and I got confused. However I managed to pick up a legit 80 shadowmourne paladin from a member there, so its not all bad. But im not too sure about EGS, I have had PM's from Monarch (well AOE PM's im sure) asking for "time and money" donations to get the site back up to standard.

The christmas skin was the worst thing I have ever seen. No offence to whoever created it. It may of just been the way egs looked with it, but it wasnt pretty :<

Knowing a little bit more about the goings on in this type of website/business is interesting though. But some serve as a sad reminder of current life more than others.
 
I never understood how EGS got popular with that gigantic MM notice at the top of every single page. You had to scroll down a full page length just to get to a post. Incredibly annoying.
 
Actually, I supported that simply because we always got reports of users being scammed who never knew about the Mm service. Ask previous staff members, we would all facepalm at some of the stupidity (no offense) of some users. Things like I sent the seller $$$ through WU and never got the account. I would ask who was it, and I would either get a new user who registered or someone who wasn't on EGS but was talking through a messenger.
It was quite ridiculous. Ask Gummybear and past staff members lol.
At one point I tried to build rep here to offer MM services for FFXI here but never was able to meet MMOBay requirements xD
 
We have had some silly scam victims here too, not as bad anymore since selling a WoW account is quite different that it used to be years ago.

I have to say it. There are scammers on every forum. But some have more than others. It really depends on how the staff deal with them (or they're possibly scammers themselves).
eBay and Craig's List were the exact same way. Their original stance was it's not our problem. We're just a venue for trading goods and aren't responsible. Then they both gave into public pressure and spent money protecting its users.

EGS still has xmas skin problems. Threads that start out with a number still don't work. Feedback & iTrade are repeated twice on every post. Also the xmas skin was supposed to removed a long time ago, but I assume Monarch could not because he was in jail. The Xmas skin was created in 2005 as public vbulletin skin.

Eventually "Use MM service" was on every signature of everyone who didn't have their own personal signature and still people missed it. haha Or that could have desensitized them. ;)

I also forgot to thank you KHAccounts for the info you posted, anyone want to take bets on whether Monarch will stay with EGS and actually try and rebuild it for the better or just take what he can and run?
 
He will let it go when his userbase figures out his motives and that he cares more about his own wallet than he does about his community. He has shown that he is a lie, cheat, and an all-around joke. I have more CEO-material in my little pinkie finger than that man does in his entire body. And at that, I would be a terrible CEO :)
