Reported problem: When I attempt to log in using the credentials the seller handed over, EA returns "no EA account found." When I enter just the Gmail address tied to those credentials, EA returns "create your new account," meaning that Gmail is no longer associated with any EA account on file. Both error states are attached and PayPal can reproduce them at any time using the same credentials submitted in this dispute.

Changing the email on an EA account requires verification at both the old and new addresses. I did not do this. My own message in the EpicNPC chat on April 29 states "i havent changed the password yet, i have just added recovery number to it." Whoever changed the email had recovery-level access. The only person with that access was the seller, through the PlayStation Network account linked to the EA account.

On the PSN linkage specifically: it was raised during the trade and I asked the seller directly whether it would cause issues. The seller's reply was "I no longer use PS4, only PC." I took this as a reassurance that they would not use the PSN account to recover the EA account, and I proceeded with the purchase on that basis. That representation is now provably false. The current state of the account shows they did exactly what they implied they would not do. PSN recovery does not require an active PS4. It can be done from a phone or a browser. The seller's reassurance addressed a different question than the one that mattered.

Outcome of dispute: Seller agreed to refund user
