Contact Info Alert Added

Not Recently Bumped

A new alert has been added for anyone that posts off-site contact information in their thread. This was added because scammers continue to trick veteran sellers into posting threads on their behalf with the promise of large commissions which are obviously fake. These threads have off-site contact information that sends potential buyers directly to the scammer.

We have already added warnings during the thread creation process, however it does not seem to have stopped the scammers, so we are now adding a warning directly into the thread for ALL members. We cannot add exceptions for upgraded or long term members as some of those who were tricked were upgraded and long term members.

If you post flagged contact information words, this warning will now appear at the top of your thread.

WARNING! Off-site contact information posted. Most scams occur off-site. Please contact members directly via EpicNPC chat. We do not investigate disputes if you communicate off-site.

To remove this warning, please remove the contact information out of your threads.

As an alternative, you can add your contact information back to your threads via the Contact page. This automatically displays your contact info at the bottom of all of your threads and will not trigger this new warning message. The contact page is monitored and if needed, we can add additional security checks based on the scammers actions. This will allow us to monitor contact info and better flag accounts when suspicious changes are detected.

Banned - illegal activity
Hi,
Thanks for the update.
please check the "Discord" contact as it asks for URL while discord contact doesn't have a URL for an account.

The URL to your Discord profile is required. This is to prevent scammers from using numbers, special characters or similar usernames to impersonate someone else.

Example:
Bob
B0b

How can I get my Discord profile link? I don't think Discord makes a link for each profile. maybe for channels i guess

Got this warning in my active post despite having no contact information listed or any mention of it.

It seems Discord made a change to how profiles can be shared and URLs no longer appear to be available or working.

This no longer seems to work. When clicking the link, it does not connect you to the user's profile.
https://d iscord.com/users/1234567890 (example, not a real profile)

We will have to make an update to how Discord usernames are added to the Contact page. For now you can use the "Other" option and just post your Discord username there.

Ok, but even "other" option asks for a URL to be added!

Done! Tysm for the info!

Not gonna lie i'd wish to see epicnpc worked on promotion for popular boosting games with huge potential customers base, like it was several years ago, rather than making sellers life harder instead by making us look more sketchy

Please provide the URL.

For Discord, we are going to change it where the user will input both their username and ID number. URL will no longer be required. This update should be available in the next 1-2 days.
There is a way for Discord link here:

credits to @Saber_Dc for sharing it.

I appreciate the video, but it's not easy enough and most members won't figure it out or spend the time to learn how to do it.

I think changing the Discord contact info to a username + userID combo will be easier for most people.

@DiabloBlood I need to know the URL to your thread where the warning appears in order to investigate. That screenshot is not useful. Sorry.

I need the link to your Epicnpc thread where the warning appears, not the link to your Discord profile. This is the 3rd time I'm asking for your thread URL and you keep posting something else. I will assume you're trolling if you don't post the thread URL next time.

Maybe u should focus on adding improvements which are going to help sellers make more sales or focus more on marketing so forum gets more active. Calling out ur sellers botters ,scammers or that people will get bans by buying gold of us here, is bad for everyone.

Do u think your helping anyone by calling out people who sell here scammers, or that anyone who uses discord is going to be scammed. Stupid people are going to be scammed, smart people wont. Stop putting stupid and smart people into same basket.

I’m not a fan of the new banner either. It alienates off-site contact when most sellers rely on it for best form of communication. This conversation happened before too when the word “Discord” was going to be censored.

The “contact tree” update seems to be in support of off-site contact too. Yet, it’s like “here you guys can use this awesome tool to add your off site links” but also “don’t contact people off-site since you’ll most likely be scammed.”

Also flagging it on paid advertising posts?
It’s a no for me 🙏

I understand the struggle with scammers though, they’re persistent when it comes to trying to exploit websites. Hopefully there’s a good solution where good sellers aren’t inadvertently punished for a small few.

Regarding the contact tree too, is it possible to move it in frame for mobile? Easier visibility for those going to our profile page

The issue is that sellers keep posting threads for scammers. This is including veteran sellers. This warning does not call the sellers scammers.

The issue is that it’s not a small few. I personally have banned over 50 sellers that have fallen for this many of which have been here for over a year.

The banner will not be appearing in your thread when you post your off-site information via the contact tree. This warning will be when you specifically type out the off-site contact method in your thread and not use the contact tree.

I reply with the purpose of contributing only, not personal attack. I am also a seller but specialize in gacha games, not in mmorpg services. I understand that without sellers, there will be no source of services/accounts for buyers to shop, but both you and I should understand that customers/buyers are the main source of life for both sellers and forums. Without customers, there will be no transactions created, both sellers and forums will have no income. Therefore, providing information and warnings so that customers understand clearly what they have done, are doing and will do is necessary.

It is the scammers who lose the trust of our customers, especially those who are new to this forum, they will be disappointed if the first transaction is scammed, we will lose a potential customer. and not everyone is smart and clear-headed all the time, there will be times when they are careless and that is when the scammers take advantage of it. so providing enough information and warning is necessary, if we have given full warning but they still do things beyond the term and lose money, then it will be their fault.

As a genuine seller, I see that our job is to provide a good and reputable source of service, the feedback system and guarantee (through the exchange process of each individual seller with their customers) will be the key to reaching a purchase agreement. In addition, we should also pre-determine the compensation if we provide services/accounts produced by another party. This will increase the trust from the buyer and will help us sell.

For me, I agree with the forum adding warnings in each thread, but please consider using words that are harmonized for both buyers and sellers when they receive that information. Using words that are too extreme or overgeneralize can make buyers feel disgusted and scared at first sight.
I hope the forum will become more and more popular to reach more potential customers, from which both the seller and the forum will receive more benefits.

My two cents as someone who has also been contacted, any seller who falls for this deserves the ban. The scam is obvious and they must have known.

You don't sell stuff that you don't have access to yourself.

Regarding the contact tree too, is it possible to move it in frame for mobile? Easier visibility for those going to our profile page
Yes, we can reorder those today.

I understand the warning is an overall negative for sellers, but if you switch to using the contacts page, it will not display in your threads. We monitor information on the contact page and have added security checks and warnings when suspicious actions are detected. We can then make updates as the scam methods change. We can't do this when members post contact info directly into the thread.

Since the verification update, the primary scam method has become contacting sellers and getting them to post threads on their behalf by offering them large commissions when they sell something. Having contacted dozens of sellers myself and collected video evidence, I have seen the chats and it's similar in every case. The scammer offers a business proposal, with large commissions and the seller accepts without checking anything.

Originally we were banning these sellers, but when it became clear this was widespread, we changed the ban to 30 days only if the seller also pays back every victim that was scammed.

If you have another idea to combat this method, please post it and we'll consider it.

Why is that even allowed?
Posting threads on behalf of someone else, that should be outright banned
It's literally dropshipping

If someones posting a thread that doesn't match their discord ID , it should be outright removed

Edit:
All you've done now is make every buyer hesitant in purchasing or contacting someone by adding a big warning on every single thread this site has
If you want to make it apart of the profile, add it to the left profile with a "contact" and have a symbol or icon that a seller can choose whether its discord, whatsapp, telegram and their username
Something like this

To clarify when you add your contact information into the contact tree you can directly add that contact information to your threads as well. This is an option in the contact tree. If you do it this way it will not trigger the warning.

Previous change that explains the thread integration with the contact tree: https://www.epicnpc.com/threads/contact-page-thread-integration-update.2974568/

Is this okay or should i remove the Screenshot of my profile ?
We're making an update to the Contact page for Discord. It will show username and ID number, so you won't need to post a screenshot. However you can if you want to.

I can't edit my thread that contain my contact info. It is old thread since 2021, could you please help me with that?
You're not verified and all of your threads are currently archived and not editable. You have to verify your account first, then I can edit one thread for you. If you need more than 1 thread edited, you'll have to upgrade your account to obtain unlimited edit.
