Buyer claims account locked immediately - scam?

Me=second owner.

I speak to buyer over the phone. He paypals me. I provide him with account name and password only. I tell him I will only provide the SA and email change after 3 business days.

I receive an email from Blizzard saying the password has been changed and the character is being transferred.

Buyer says he did both and did not change the character's name.

The next day the buyer emails me and says he cannot log in. I attempt to do a password reset but my the retrieval page says I'm entering the wrong information. I do a name retrieval and the email Blizzard sends back to me does not list this account.

Yet I never received a confirmation email from Blizzard on the email change. The character does not show up on armory.

Is the buyer pulling my chain?

I dont think this is a case of the buyer pulling your chain. Theres absolutely no possibility he could change the e-mail on your account without using a virus etc..but that is very unlikely. My best guess is that the person you obtained the account from has recalled it.

About armory, when a character is transfered and the name changed it sometimes takes a period of time for this to update on the armory servers, so you might want to check the characters old name if you havnt already done so.

Steps to take:

1. Scan your computer for viruses JUST in case you were keylogged etc..by the person who bought your account.

2. If that comes through with nothing get in contact with the person you bought/obtained the account from to see whats what. DO NOT refund the buyer until you have had the chance to talk to the person you bought the account off of.

3. If you are absolutely convinced that this person did not recall the account (im 90% sure they did) then please post on this thread again to lets us know whats going on.

sometimes blizzard will reset the password and send it to the current registered email address out of the blue (this has happened to me in the past for NO APPARENT REASON). moreover, blizzard may have flagged and locked the account for an IP conflict (this has also happened to me in the past)

good luck!

Ya this has happened to me as well...always wondered why. However i dont think this is what has happened to nino. Unless theres is something i missed you didnt receive any e-mails relating to your account other than the ones telling you the char was xfered, and password changed right?

I think the original owner is a scammer, and the new buyer legit. The OO emailed me telling me he had sent gold from the toon to an alt. When he logged onto his alt after the account he purchased was locked, the gold was labeled as being sent by another toon. He armoried the toon, and sure enough, it's the toon I sold him. So I have to assume the original owner called Blizzard and had them change the registered email.

My question now...now what?

refund the person you sold the account to immediately, it sucks i know, but it has to be done.

You might want to open a scammer thread and make sure to post ALL viable proof you have on the situation.

Best of luck.
