I got an email today from Blizzard. I copy and pasted it below. Is this email legit? Has anyone seen this before? If so what steps do I take. I don't want my account to get banned.

If anyone has information on this, please help. Also I lost my CD Key, so I am missing some of that information, if this email is true I could be screwed.

Okay. Take a deep breath.

Firstly, it's fake. Your account is safe. Blizzard will never ask you for that information, and if they were to you'd have to fax it.

Secondly, try and look for something that ends with: @live.com.

They don't have to ask for your password to find it. The SQ/A would give it to them.

No worries - you're fine. By tommorow you'll have 10 more of those e-mails from all the other scammers out there! (;

No problem. =)

I know they're fake, but everytime I get one my heart stops for a beat or two. I just don't give out my e-mail anymore.

I'm still getting emails for these guys. But once again I am a little more concerned.

The next email I got was from [email protected] asking for the same information as well as my credit card info. I replied to that email saying that they're fake and then got one back from [email protected].

Is it possible for them to use those email addresses? These guys must think they're clever. I am in no way giving out that info. Why would they ask for the account info and say if I choose to ignore this email they'll ban my account?

Then why ask for it if they already know?

They can mask them. If you're using something like outlook TraceRT their IP in the mail properties. But that's a little extreme. Just look at it this way. Blizzard will NEVER EVER ask for ANY information VIA e-mail. They'll tell you to upgrade/change this via Account Management. Never via e-mail. You have nothing to worry about.

Just put fake information in these. I started doing that and I've totally stopped getting them through my MD address.
