when they say yes say great. What's your number so i can verify via a phone call.

They wont give it out and most times don't say anything after that.

unfortunatly theres plenty of scammers who will be more then happy to talk to you on the phone for an hour and still walk away with your account or cash. sooo yea... just because someone doesnt want to talk to you on the phone doesnt always mean they are a scammer.

this should be posted in the safe buying,selling/trade section if we still have one with these new forums

Thats not quite what he meant. What he was trying to say is seeing as he's in the USA he asks if they are so he can call them. If your in London say "Hey man are you in London" etc.

Also yes wrong section so i'll move it.

Ya, a phone call is just one of the many ways to safe guard yourself. Sometimes it can be good to have a sort of checklist to go through when you're dealing with people. One thing that can help when selling to people is having them e-mail you from their PayPal e-mail to confirm they actually own it. There has been a lot of stolen paypals going around lately it seems.

Never assume anything when dealing with people, it's when you do that that you get into trouble. Buying/Selling WoW accounts is a multi-million dollar market that is basically untapped so it's wrong to think that the person trying to scam you isn't actually very good at what they do.

Im from New Zealand , so yea .... and i think of myself as pretty legit as well as the fact that recently i made a deal with a MD user and he was more than happy to find me all the codes and stuff to ring him ... really trading anything online is all about co-operation.

Best way is to not do business with someone who can't speak english.

I'd say it's more important to be aware than than having English be a deal breaker. We live in a world with billions of gamers. I can point out dozens of horribly English speaking legit traders.

Which game are we talking about?

In WoW US, almost every country should speak some type of english. The countries that support it are South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Singapore. Of those countries, they pretty much all speak English or Spanish. Spanish people with slurred english is completely different from chinese with the exception of South Korea who sells on auction based korean sites, not american sites.

The best way to test their accent is by speaking with them. It isn't hard to pick up the phone, and make a call to guarantee better protection moving forward.

It'd actually be a nice change of atmosphere to transact with a foreign person... Everytime someone attempted to pull a scam or recall on me has been American - so I have nothing to lose really. As long as I can communicate with them, there's no issues.

I remember the time I was dealing with a guy who lived like 3 miles away from me and he scammed me out of a Gamecard.

Here I thought we could of became gamer buds, I was wrong :). That was like 2 1/2 years ago.

I dealt with someone locally who was very nice and polite when I met him back in 2003 well before MMOBAY. The transaction went smooth and that was the end of it I thought. 2 weeks later the account was taken back. I finally managed to track down his landline number after several days and spoke to his mother who said he had past away. I was skeptical at first but when I did more research I found he had committed suicide. I was pretty shocked as I would have never guessed he had that many problems when I spoke to him just a few weeks before his death.

After that, I didn't really care about the account anymore.

Sadly this is a true story.
