People claim they've been scammed before even with 'instant' paypal payment.

As the seller, how do you counter a dispute if someone tries to recall a 'instant' payment? for example in game gold?

Screen cap -everything-. There are two main ways a buyer can get their money back, three if they want their account most likely shut down. They will

1. Dispute transaction as item not received/severely not as described. This is why you screen cap all emails and AIM's, as well as in-game transactions. Prove to paypal that their virtual goods were received. Buyers will sometime knowingly purchase gold, but dispute saying that they thought they paid for a game. So you could additionally send out a WoW CD-key and say the gold/account was a bonus. Then you'll have a tracking number to submit.

2. The buyer will dispute as an unauthorized transaction. This is most likely done right after or a few days after transaction. Most of the time you are SOL on this method, especially for virtual goods.

3. The buyer will charge back directly with their bank or credit card. Paypal doesn't like this and sometimes suspends or shuts down accounts for doing this.

You need to remember that this is a pretty risky business all around. It's virtual goods. Paypal doesn't cover that, but once in a blue moon you can win a case if you have enough evidence against the person. But most of the time you'll just have to suck up the loss and move on.

Is it ok to state to paypal that both parties are exchanging for WOW GOLD and real life currency? and show chat logs of transaction too?

So even if i show chat logs for the 'unauthorized transaction', you say that its most likely going to go their way? Also does paypal care that we're doing virtual items, even though its against wow TOS? Meaning its ok to show paypal screenshots, logs , etc of transactions?

If you get too many 'unauthorized transactions' disputes, doesnt that look bad on your paypal?

Paypal does not cover virtual items, however one way to get around that is to ask the seller to ship something to you, even if it's a empty box.

And yes, too many unauthorized trasactions does look bad on your PP account, however unless its a ton, they won't do anythign to you.

like I said, you can send the buyer an empty box via UPS, this way you'll have a tracking number if they decide to dispute. By signing for the box, the person is basically stating they received the in-game gold, so you can use that if you think they might dispute the payment.
