Hi, i was looking on internet about how scammers make possible to chargeback a Paypal F&F transaction
and it seems that the only way to make it possible its:

1) if the payment was done through a Bank credit/debit card linked to the paypal account

so chargebacks are not possible when done with money from "Paypal Balance"

So i was wondering when someone makes a payment via F&F
is there a way to check if the payment was done using Paypal Balance or a Credit/Debit card linked?

For example, on the image below its how i see a payment received that was done via Friends and Family(F&F)
(But i dont know if the person used Paypal Balance or Credit/Debit card from a bank linked)

And this is how i see when i get a payment via Paypal Good and services(G&S) (This payment was refunded after i got it)

I can see differences between F&F and G&S like the payment received from (G&S) has Shipping Address and shows the mail of the person who makes the payment

So, if someone pays using a credit/debit card through paypal there may be a difference too?
some signal that the funds comes from a bank and not from Paypal balance?

if this is not the case, maybe a seller in this community has a way to check where the funds of your buyers comes from? (Bank or Paypal Funds)

or a way to prevent this kind of scam happening ?

i would really appreciate any info about this!
Thanks in advance!

You can't see the funding source used for the payment that you received. It shows on the transaction page for the sender only.

They would have to send you a screenshot, but even with ss it's not hard to fake it to show balance.

Most of the time when you get hit by a chargeback, it's because the scammer used a stolen card and/or paypal account. The person who charges back is usually not the same person who scammed you.

so sad...

the only thing it comes to my mind right now to prevent this way of scam to happen is:

1) make the "Buyer" send a note with the F&F payment saying "Gift from BuyerNicknameEpicNpc to "SellerNicknameEpicNpc"
2) Seller confirm getting the payment
3) and then "Seller" Send a message to the "Buyer" via epicNPC private chat saying "Thanks, Gift received with id transaction #123ABC456DEF789GHI"

Maybe this way would make it harder/imposible for a "Buyer" getting the approval of chargeback from his Bank/Paypal
and this way "Seller" will avoid the SCAM attempt.

What you guys think?

Thanks in advance!

For what it's worth, PayPal is a horrendous company to use for online sellers in all industries, not just game accounts. They're so bad I outright refuse to accept any bigger amounts through PayPal and rather wait for someone else to pay through wire or other, non-scam-oriented payment methods. They're really a company that not only rips sellers off, but actively enables them getting scammed.
