Had my PC for a years and i feel its fallen behind being up to date, wondering whats a semi cheap but good combo to go with nowadays that will run most games without issue. (obviously not super demanding graphics games)

amd radeon r9 290. Its still within the recommendet system requirements for the most games. For example AC: Origins.
But you should not buy the reference model, as it is getting very loud, very fast.

You should go with an 4th GEN I7 or higher, and at least 16gb RAM.

Edit: Oh I see, this comes about one Year to late. For eveyone else: its still maybe the best cheap and kinda high end setup you can get.

Though you guys necro'd this thread I'll give my 2 cents too :D

If you can get your hands on a used gtx 780 for under 100ā‚¬/$, you won't find anything for a better price/performance. Beats the 1050TI/1060 3GB for a lot less money.

updating your mobo means you gonna need to upgrade a whole pc like proc , ram and might be need to upgrade your psu as well.

it would be better you gave your budget, and your old rigs so i could see what would be the best option for you.
for example my current rigs are

i5 2400
foxconn 467a-s
corsair ddr3 vegeaance 2x4gb kit
his iceq.x radeon hd 6790
sound card esi juli@

my budget for full upgrade at this moment is not possible, so my planning will be :

1. buy gpu that can last till 4 years later , for example
XFX RX 570 4GB DDR5 Black Edition OC 1284MHz Dual Fan RX-570P4DBD6 Ati Radeon PCI Exp. 2.945.000idr ($219)
since my psu xigmatek 550w will be enough so i dont need to upgrade them yet.

2. im gonna saving up few months to execute my upgrade plan for 2nd wave that will be :
AMD Ryzen 5 1600 3.6Ghz Up to 4.0Ghz AMD AM4 2.860.000,-
now for finding the best mobo for me usually kind of tricky , since i have a very limited budget , my pc also on 24x7 all my foxconn never died till their bettery died on them which usually till im upgrade my rigs 5-7years later for example my this rigs was build on 2011 or 2012 ,so im not a fans of popular brands , the sad news is, foxconn already leave my country years ago haha.
