What does the fire icon mean next to thread?

Usually the threads have a grey fire icon, colored fire icon, or an exclamation mark next to the title when you browse the list of threads in the category. Wondering what it means. Thanks.

okay fire and dark grey mean its a very popular post with lots of views and you have not read it. White with fire means same thing but you read it. like thread is "hot"

Explanation point and dark grey means you did not read it and white means you did. On less popular threads with less the x amount of views
