western union payments have the advantage over paypal because once you physical have the money in hand from the teller, there is no easy way to recall it (unless it was paid for by a credit cart - but this is still a lot of hassle compared to a paypal recall)

is there anything i need to make sure of, as the receiver to ensure i do not get scammed...otherwise i'm gonna go ahead and finally sell my account (after 1-2 months of fear that i would be scammed)

well, to receive a WU payment, you will need the name (first and last), address and phone number (landline) of the sender.
i recommend you reverse lookup the landline to the address (www.411.com) to make sure it matches the address given to you. finally, CALL the landline number and get him to confirm that he is the buyer.
