Steam Family Sharing is getting ready to launch and it will allow Steam users to share their games with up to 10 devices. It's not clear whether those 10 devices are permanent or if Steam users can deauthroize devices at a later time.

Basically how it will works is you can share your entire library with a friend, they can then download and play any of your games. Only 1 friend can access and play a game at a time with the original owner trumping everyone else. Meaning if you're playing your friend's game, then he/she wants to play it, you will get a warning message then booted after a few mins.

For those of you thinking this is just Steam adding more features to be friendly to customers, it's really not. The EU ruled last year that it's illegal to prevent customers from reselling used games, so this is just Valve complying with the court ruling.
EU Court Ruling Allows for Re-sale of Used Games by YOU - Lo-Ping

I guess this is step one and probably by next year people will be able to resell their games, but that's just a guess.
