Hello Fellow EPICNPC members,

I have a question regarding purchasing, now I understand many frown on paypal due to many shady people doing charge backs after delivery, This in turn offers no protection for the seller if there is no way the seller can reclaim the stolen account. Double edged sword here as seller can also recover account claiming it was stolen.

however using Western Union or similar, this gives no protection for the buyer, ah hell in worst case scenario, you could just run off after I have already western union the money and there is absolutely nothing I can do.

Is there something I am missing here?

There is really no fool-proof method. As a seller, you can always demand a "friends and family" payment which 99% protects the seller from a buyback. However, the buyer has zero coverage and must depend on seller' rep. Same goes with a Western Union. The seller again can verify transaction by simply going to a Western Union outlet and withdrawing the money. Once this is done, the buyer is again depending on the seller to provide account details, gold, etc...

As a seller, I prefer either a middleman or payment via Friends and Family. I do also take Western Union, but I would have to verify transaction first before handing anything over.

As a buyer, it really gets tricky since buying offers little or zero protection (Everyone prefers Paypal "Friends and Family" payment or something along the lines of "buyer goes first"). I normally won't start any transaction unless the buyer has some sort of rep (more the better) and Verified. Plus, I usually will insist on the seller going first unless they can have a large amount of rep.
